Weber St/ Sac State....They Really Aren't State's Game Thread

We're gonna need to play a perfect game to stand a chance against Weber. They look real good.

Agreed but you just never know with football, especially in the Big Sky. Weirder things have happened.
I totally think we can beat them, but we'll need to play our best game of the year. Our D should be able to do alright against their offense, but their defense scares the hell out of me. Thankfully, we get them at home, which will be huge.

Both teams take care of business next week and should be a hell of a game in two weeks. Wa-Griz always a tough place to play.

Agreed. Their offense is good and defense very very good. They have made it to the quarter-finals past two years and are just as good this year. We need to take care of the spuds first, then play our best football of the year against Weebs and the scats.

Go Griz!

Need to defeat Idaho first. Idaho gave Weber a good game.

Idaho was also at home when playing Weber. Idaho plays really well at home and has been atrocious on the road with an 0-9 record or something since they returned to the Big Sky. I like our chances against them next weekend.

Good god Weber’s good

Weber does not have an explosive offense. Constantine is just a simplistic game manager. But their defense is ridiculously good, and caused Sac State to look inefficient ( no lucky catches and five-yard gain fumbles). Weber defense is so good that the Griz might get shut out. I love the Griz, but Weber is scary good.

We may very well lose to Weber, but they haven't shut out a single team this year, and that includes some truly awful Big Sky offenses. Their D is not as good as Oregon's.

Oh good lord. You realize they struggled to beat Idaho, right?

If Weber can get even average play out of Constantine they have a very good chance for playing for the national championship.
Good running game, good offensive line, and good against the run equals a recipe for success.

I wouldn't say struggled....the score was 41-28 with 130 left in the game and Idaho ran the ensuing kick back for td making the final look closer than the game was

Yeah they probably arent going to. And I dont care if Montana scores 41...as long as Weber scores 42

I hope that Sneed and the Griz score 56 on Weber. I hope the Griz win. What I was saying is that Weber's defense made Thomson and Sacramento State's offense look very inefficient. The same Hornet offense that looked very good against the Griz.

The first half Hornet offense drive chart from yesterday, shows just two good sequences:
#6 Sacramento State 1 10:18 02:27 WSU25 7 51 FG
#6 Sacramento State 1 05:54 00:53 WSU02 3 -2 SAF
#6 Sacramento State 1 03:23 03:15 WSU18 8 25 PUNT
#6 Sacramento State 2 13:04 02:30 WSU33 6 67 TD
#6 Sacramento State 2 08:37 01:53 WSU29 6 23 DOWNS
#6 Sacramento State 2 01:57 01:19 WSU25 7 52 INT

Have the Griz EVER been shutout at home in the Wa-Griz era? That was my point. They may very well beat us but a shutout seems pretty far fetched.

Board is Schizophrenic right now and entertaining. Weber is a good team and physical. The Griz played a flat out awful game against Sac State after a bye week. I don’t place much stock in that game. Weber in Missoula will be much closer than fans think, which is probably going to be the case for two or the three remaining games on the Grizzlies schedule.

No doubt weber is a very good team. They have good line play and execute at a high level but to even think they will shut us out is laughable. They haven’t shut out anyone to date and they won’t next week against und and won’t the following week at Montana. I would wager to bet getting by idaho next week will motive these Grizzlies to the nth degree. This is a very good Montana team that is well coached and have a bad taste in their mouths with what happened at sac state. They’ll know what’s at stake and we will see one hell of a battle for what could be the conference championship.

Go Griz!
