Weber St. left out of NIT

Total screw job. Has more to do with the conference they play in than anything. But on the bright side, we get at least one more game at the Dee, maybe more. And could get a chance to beat those Aggie bastards again. Also, DLill is pissed at not getting the NIT bid. Watch for him to light up the scoreboard.

The possibility of home court throughout the CIT tournament is interesting, we do have the best record and the highest RPI in the field, and according to wikipedia, RPI, strength of schedule, conference ranking and geographic location will determine seeding of the remaining teams. Weber State (70) Buffalo (77) and Robert Morris (99) are the only teams in the 32 team tournament with top 100 RPI's.

The Big Sky doesn't exactly have a stellar record in the post season tourneys. If Weber can make a good run and the Griz have a good showing, we might get more recognition in the next several years.

Hope it happens! Would be nice to see Weber go on a tear to finish the season.

You and me both PeauxRouge :D

How does a team with an RPI of 70 and a potential lottery pick not make the NIT? Weber got hosed!

I've been trying to think of a logical explaination why Weber would have been left out.....I got nothin

I am about to post somthing that might piss a few egrizers off...

If Weber getting left out surpises you, you need to pull your head out of the sand or some other place.

The Big Sky is a red headed step child to the rest of basketball and college football fans. They would say "If you are not in "the big leagues"... you are crap."

Why the BSC gets no respect:
1- Lack of success, no BSC wins in the dance since UM beat Nevada in 2002
2- NCAA and NIT Tourney are set to make money, and lets face it Weber is NOT A BIG DRAW and has no real TV following.
3- No real TV contract, if the voters/commitees dont see them they dont know how good or bad they are.
4- Crappy conference... ask yourself why did two teams go 15-1 and 14-2, (yes UM and Weber are good), but the rest of the conference SUCKS!!
5-Weber has a lack of good wins...
Weber was 1-2 vs. (NCAA) UM, Lost to (NCAA Play-in) BYU, Lost to (NCAA- PLay-in) Cal and Lost to (NCAA) St. Marys,
Beat (17-15) Utah State, Beat a bad San Jose State (9-22) team, beat a bad Utah (6-25) team.
Non-Conference wins vs. UC Irvine (12-20), Northern New Mexico (Who?), Jacksonville State (15-18), Southern Utah (14-17) and Mayville State (Who?).
Did beat NIT team Texas-Arlington (24-8) by 2

When will the powers that be (UM leadership) see that the BSC is terrible for UM basketball. The Mountain West, Big West and even the WAC usually get 2-4 teams in the dance. The BSC has 2 of the best teams its had in 10 years and gets snubbed by the NCAA and NIT.

Small Fan-Base

Not really...they lead the BSC in attendance every year.

I'm not talking about attendance to games, I'm talking about people outside of the Salt Lake area that actually follow your team. For example, last night at a bar in Ohio, I was talking about our championship game. Everyone their as heard of UM and everyone their looked dumbstruck when I mentioned WSU.

The "powers that be" don't give a crap about basketball when it comes to conference affiliation. Football drives all of these decisions. That's why San Diego State's basketball program is going to WCC and Boise State's back to the WAC next year.

Montana's "powers that be" are going to make move-up decisions based on what they think is best for football. If they got an invite to the Mountain West, would they go? Sure, but that invite hasn't been forthcoming yet. And your administration is smart enough to know the WAC is a dying league when it comes to football, so they have chosen to sit tight until something better comes along.
