My bad, I didn't look at the schedule, just randomly posted before checking things. Looks like they've got 4 games to go, home against ISU then at NAU, at NCU and then home against Sac. With a 2 game lead and the tie breaker against Weber they need to really just win 2 more. Sac and NCU are at the bottom of the conference. So as long as they take care of business it appears they'll be hosting the tourney!

Hopefully they win out, get ranked in the top-25 and get a great seed in the tourneys! Go lady Griz!

Player of the Game: Sonya Rogers - Both defensively and offensively. Most complete game by Sonya yet this year. 7 - 11, 4 - 5 from freethrows, and 1 - 3 from 3 pt line. One of those 7 field goals was off of a real nice steal by her.

Mandy was called on a couple of the most ticky tacky fouls.

Britney Lohman's last foul nearly decapitated a Weber State player. At least the foul made the WSU player miss. I guess if your going to get your fifth, make it a big one.

Dana Conway is starting to come of her near season long slump. Scored 12 points on 4 - 6 shooting, 2 - 2 ft line, 2 - 3 3pt line.

Have to differ with CityGriz on who should be taking the ball down instead of Mandy. Not Sonya, but Laura Cote did an excellent job bringing the ball down reall quick like. Scored only 2 points, but this game was one of Cote's best games this year.

Sara Gale also had a great game. 7 rebounds and 5 points. Great defense.

Clossen was one rebound from a double-double. shot poorly, but made up for it with real good defense and rebounding.

Overall: Excellent game by Lady Griz, got quite a bit of support from everyone in this game. Once they switched to man defense, it was almost lights out for WSU. Comparing Lady Griz defense and defense by the men's team, I wonder, why can't the men play defense like this? lady Griz switch so well together, but the men's team doesn't.

Anyway, Way to go Lady Griz.

4 more games to go. Now they can afford to lose a game and still host. Haven't looked at tie breakers, but hav a very good chance of hosting even if they lose two, Since Lady Griz will not be swept by anyone. the only two teams that have a realistic shot of tying Lady Griz are WSU and NAU, and Lady Griz will certainly have tie breaks with other teams because of sweeping them.

ISU next. It could be a barn burner. What hurt ISU last was a slow start, and not as much depth on their team. Lady Griz defense could very well be the difference here, ISU doesn't normally play defense. Average 78 points a game, should have a better record then they have.

the tie breaker against Weber

Is the tie breaker the split with RPI figured in?

If Lady Griz tie with WSU, by losing to both NAU and ISU, RPI would come into play because each team would have swept the same teams and split with the same teams. Because of RPI, Lady Griz win.
If Lady Griz beat ISU and NAU, and lose the other two games, while WSU is able to win out and tie Lady Griz, then Lady Griz win because of sweeping NAU and ISU. WSU split with those two teams.
Tie breaker goes like this:

1. head to head
2. How teams fared against other teams from top down.
3. RPI

I should mention, and I neglected to consider it, but Lady Griz did lose to NAU and ISU creating that situation with RPI, RPI would be used to determine order of finish with UM and WSU. NAU could finish in a tie with Lady Griz and WSU in this situation and confuse everything.

Mandy has been playing 32+ minutes and it appears to be catching up with her.
Mandy is seriously wondering if she has enough left for the rest of the season. She's tired.

i think there's a lot of pressure on mandy, not only from the physical exertion of handling the ball on every possession, but from being the unquestioned team leader, the one everyone looks to deliver the big play. mandy is a terrific player, on her way to legendary status at montana, but remember....she's only a sophomore. during the game at ogden, i felt like hollering, "give her a rest! distribute the load!" she's got special talents, but still, she's just human. i think.

Mandy got 5 1/2 minutes of rest in first half due to fouls. Lady Griz turned up the pressure and expanded lead without her. I also think the rest in the first half helper in the second half. Lady Griz can afford to give Mandy some rest in first half, have her drink some powerade or gatorade. I think it was powerade she was drinking after the leg cramps she had last week. It certainly must have helped her as she came back on the floor and didn't get a recurrence like Casey Durham did when the MSU Bobcats men's team did when they played here in Missoula.

You must be a Dr the way you suggest you know more than the trainers and coaches about why Mandy got the first cramp she has had Did you know there are 9 other players (stars such as Douma and Warburton) in the BSC playing more minutes per game than Mandy? She is averaging 32 minutes per game, there are players averaging 36mpg. There are also several other things that can cause a cramp than being tired. Did you know females also can cramp due to hormonal issues? I think Selvig knows FAR more than you do. If you are an expert like you seem to want usl to believe you should go visit the trainers and coaches and impart your wisdom. I am sure they are just scratching their heads wondering where you are. :lame:

Backer, what??? I didn't see anything in BBisKing's post that suggested he knows more than the trainers. He simply made two observations: That Mandy appears tired and that Poweraid seemed to help with her cramps. Settle down there, Big Fella.

Think this victory by over 10 points against the #2 team in the BSC will lift the LG into the top 25 nationally?

I am very settled. but thanks for the concern. My point is then why post the same thing over and over? I think we got it the 1st time. When someone repeats the same thing in the same thread they are trying to make a point, which is what I was pointing out. I think it is important to note that Mandy isn't even close to leading the BSC in minutes ( I bet he didn't even know it), and cramps are not something she has shown a propensity toward. I think it was isloated. As for being tired, hell Kobe and Lebron get tired, that is something that happens to every athlete. Bottom line, cramps happen in sports, if you ever have one you never forget it. I think Selvig and the UM Trainers have it under control. :thumb:

durham also, at that point in the season, played practically entire games...

I must offer a correction here...LG did NOT lose to ISU, they lost to Weber in Ogden...they beat ISU 90-87 in Pocatello..

I know, sorry to confuse you. I meant IF Lady Griz lost to ISU and NAU in future games. Like the one today and next week against NAU. Not ones already played. More like what would have to happen for Lady Griz to be in a situation where RPI was needed to break a tie.
