MBBALL Weber Game Thread

It's already been a long season of watching the team leader regularly take entire halves off.

The apparent apathy from somebody so talented and skilled is legitimately a sight to behold. I've never seen a clearer on/off switch in such a blessed athlete.
Let's hope it's on in the second half.

I hate to blame the refs, but holy crap is Griz basketball almost unwatchable. I only get a few opportunities to watch games and I'm constantly bitching about the reffing and how it seems to slow the game down.

Every time I get a chance to watch, it's all these crappy calls coupled with the subsequent group meeting to apparently discuss what happened.

Am I whining here, because I swear the refs don't call half the crap when I get a chance to watch the "power teams" play, which honestly isn't that much either.

Rant off.

It's exactly why Big Sky teams struggle more than they should in the Big Dance.
They're to use to constant whistles.

Thank you. I was starting to think I was entering my "grumpy old man" stage years early.

I too have noticed how we struggle in the NCAA tourney.

As long as I'm asking questions, why does it seem like Money doesn't like to score points before halftime?

I got to watch the second half of the Cat game where we pretty much gave it to him every time and he scored. Guys a machine.

I'm guessing it's part of the game plan to get other guys going and it opens up the offense in the 2nd half. After Thompson heated up they would put him and Money on the same side of the court and it allowed Money to drive to the hoop one on one without having Thompson's guy drop down because he was denying the three point line.

It’s good to have competent Weber teams again, that can only be good for the league.

I’ve really liked swapping Isaak for Kepley. Isaak is fine, he doesn’t turn it over much and is a good defender. Kepley just has an ability to create advantages for the offense that Isaak doesn’t. He's shifty, quick, and has good instincts. His screen navigation on defense has been great as well. Travis is a great talent evaluator, Kepley will be a good one.

Fun second half after a poor first half. 11 turnovers in first half versus only 4 in the second half. Griz also made 6 more three pointers than Weber State. Those two factors along with much better defense was the key to the game. Weber Shot around 63% in first half and just under 24% in the second half.

I think Griz will win Saturday with a start time of 4pm against ISU.

Tale of 2 halves.
GRIZ defense and taking care of the ball in the 2nd half was terrific.
45 to 23 2nd half.
Thompson is such a great shooter.
The GRIZ actually made a team effort to get him his shots. That's really nice to see.
