We need a new DC. Who is on your list?

Colt Anderson's been coaching special teams for the last several years in the NFL. Would be cool to get him back in the building in some capacity.

Good luck with that. Last time I talked to Colt he made it clear the NFL is where he wants to be. He is also making way more money with less stress than we can offer at UM.

I would love this except he seems to love Eddie George and doesn’t want to work under anyone else.

I think I would lean into Ty Gregorak as well. He’s an amped guy, knows UM, proven and seems to think highly of BK.
I just don’t think going way outside the box right now is good like getting a young guy with no experience. I do think we need to bring in more youth at coaching for sure but not whole sale on D right now.

Couple things on this. I’ve always thought a head man has to choose what you want and then look to who you want. What I mean is, BK needs to decide what he wants in his DC, and then find a couple guys who fit that mold.

Things that I think are important. Some type of Montana tie. Doesn’t have to be strong or even specifically to the University. But there is value in being at least aware of what makes this place tick. I would think this is important as a head man with little Ties to Montana besides in the past year.
Has to have proven success. Doesn’t mean as a DC, but whether it’s the defense he has coached on or his position group.
Has to be able to name the staff that he would LIKE to bring in. Whether or not that happens is less important. It was important to me as a coach that coaches have connections in their back pocket.
Has to be recommended by most he has worked for (this one can only be checked by the head man really).
Has to be a good teacher. And has to be able to recruit.

Some things to consider. DC experience? Or young up-and-comer?

I personally like the idea of someone with youth that, possibly with some guidance, brings some excitement to the defense and to the fan base. Just my thoughts!

If Linehan moves on what about Gub to replace him. He learned in the trenches, on the job isn't too bad.

I’m not convinced Kyle Samson is a good coach. I think he’s an elite recruiter I’ll give him that, but I’m not sold on his Xs and Os.
