WBB vs. South Dakota

Lady Griz currently on a 17-0 run halfway through the second quarter (turned an 8-point deficit into a 9-point lead). Great contributions from the freshman.

After exploding for a 30-point quarter, while limiting South Dakota to 6, Montana leads at halftime 42-26.
Libby Stump , who did not start, leads the GrizWB with 12, while frosh post Keeli Burton-Oliver, has 11.
Gina Marxen is not playing; no info on her situation.

Outstanding 76-60 road win by Montana WBB on the vs. South Dakota.
Their first-half 16-pt lead evaporated (SD got within 3 midway through the 3rd), but Montana made minor tweaks in its spread O and nailed four treys from the baseline to reclaim the lead. Montana shot 45.5% from beyond the arc (10-22) and regained control.
Montana also showed dramatic improvement with its full-court pressure D late in the 3rd, which helped swing momentum... and the lead back to 12 by the end of the 3rd.
Credit to senior guard Sammy Fatkin, who shook off a slump of sorts with 9 second-half points to finish with 15.
The dual players of the game, to me, were frosh guards Mack Konig and Libby Stump. With illness hitting Gina Marxen (who was with the team but did not play) Stump paced the Griz with 16 points on 7-12 shooting (2 treys from the perimeter), while Konig ran the point efficiently and nailed 3 treys in the fourth to finish with 9.
Frosh posts Keeli Burton-Oliver (12 pts) and Alex Pirox (6 pts) also played very well... though both were hampered by fouls.

This team seems to be undergoing a transformation of sorts as talented frosh gain more confidence with each game. Today they were a blast to watch. Go GrizWBB.

Nice road win against a South Dakota team that is rebuilding after losing its coach and the majority of their production from last year's Sweet 16 team.

Efficient shooting splits for the Lady Griz (48% FG, 46% 3PT, 83% FT) and solid defense holding the Coyotes to 34% from the field.

A lot of solid contributions all around and overall a nice win especially considering Marxen was out.

How Libby Stump wasn't recognized as a top 100 high school player is beyond me. She excels at the point as well as she does the off guard position. Holsingers first recruiting class was ranked as the top class for the Big Sky as is his second. The Lady Griz are going to be really really good. Love watching the improvement of this group. Especially love seeing how many minutes the frosh are getting. Great win at SD.

I agree. And let's not forget, Mack Konig WAS a HoopGurlz Top 100 player for the class of 2022, a four-star recruit. What's the last time we recruited a Top 100 player from HoopGurlz?
