And hire Tres as an assistant to get him started in coaching. We heard a rumor that Pepperdine might be a spot he lands.

The last three posts are the proof of why I said what I did about coaching at three ridiculous places as opposed to being an assistant at Gonzaga. At one point, someone said I was all wound up over this, but the truth is, the last 3 posts, well after I made my comments, are wound up over something.
The burden of proof is on showing that he will take a position and HHB taps out and say he never said that it would happen.
I'm saying that it is unrealistic for a 60 year old man who has been a head coach for 20 years to suddenly want to desire to be an assistant. There is nothing out there indicating that this is in the works, but you have Tinkle and Few booed up in a corner, so continue to fantasize and I stand by what I said. I don't see it happening.

Breaking news.....if Wayne became the head coach at Pepperdine he'd have full authority to assemble his coaching staff! Tres would appear a possible candidate for plenty of assistant coaching jobs on his own. Some may agree with that philosophy..Many others n the coaching world see that differently.
Some have heard that is what happened with LG when Jos got hired. Tinkle calls Haslam and says Holsinger is the guy, but tells Holsinger you hire my daughter as asst if you get the job. Who was last to be hired on Holsingers staff?
These are things we have heard in the coaching circle.
The job was first offered to the other assistant from Oregon (or wherever he was), but his wife wouldn't move to Missoula. So the job was offered later to Holsinger. This doesn't match up with what you posted. Some may agree with that philosophy..Many others n the coaching world see that differently.

I agree. Surprised you don't know more about "the other assistant" who just took TCU to its second Elite Eight in a row.The job was first offered to the other assistant from Oregon (or wherever he was), but his wife wouldn't move to Missoula. Talked to Tinks today for an hour. You remain wrong.I meant those very sarcastically. As I said from the start, I don't see how a nice exchange from one really good guy to another turns into rumors about an alliance. I just don't buy any of that and nothing out there indicates it will happen.
I doubt that there are many out there that would have stayed and coached Oregon State to the end, which shows the kind of guy Wayne is. That was for the kids I am sure, so it's different than a commitment to just the employer.
