Apparently or according to his other posts it came from a O'Day qoute. I asked where O'Day got his info from or if O'Day was asked where is info came and Griznationalist gave no answer to that.

I provided the quote from the newspaper article in which the Athletic Director stated it as fact. I have no clue how he knows. I assume we pay him to know. If you think he's lying, or if you want to know his source, I know that his email address is available via the UM online directory.

Again keep your shirt on and I never said he was lying. You must be taking lessons from others on here who like to put words in others mouths or make assumptions. What newspaper was it? I and other boosters I know have sent O'Day emails enquiring about information or wanting to pass fundraiser ideas by him and he hasn't ever replied back. So that's a waste of time along with calling him.

Sugar Bear, you are obviously skeptical of the assertion that the Grizzly basketball team has one of the top GPA's in the nation. There's nothing wrong with skepticism. I have directed you and everyone else to the quote in the Missoulian by our Athletic Director stating the assertion as fact. If you think our Athletic Director is lying, and if you don't have the gonads to contact him or call him out (I directed you to the University of Montana email directory), then so be it. For you to claim it's a waste of time to ask because he probably would not answer the email that you didn't even have the guts to send him in the first place is ... well ... silly.

Assumptions, Assumptions =Ass/u/me which is what this has turned into. It is waste of time.

Maybe the point he's making is that nobody gives a fu*k about GPA. Is anyone talking about the football teams GPA or the championship? GB....that pickle is starting to give people the heebie jeebies. Maybe pick something less phallic and your sexuality won't be in question. Just trying to help.

My point is if they are going to be giving contract extentions for the teams GPA being the top priority over, win/loss %, attendance, championships, NCAA tourney appreances then lets scrap going for those things and starting refering to ourselves as Cal Tech. Drop the football program get rid of the stadium etc. Pump all the $ that comes becuase of athletics and put in into science and math programs. Does Bobby Hauck get an extention because his team is 14-1 and playing for a national championship or becuase, he's teams GPA's is according to unnamed soucres in the top 10? I think its great if a coach can or a program can accomplish both but, lets be honest aside from the head coaches at Cal Tech, coaches don't get extentions becuase of their programs GPA. Hell even the Ivy league schools have fired coaches for having an overall record better than 31-31 after 3 seasons. So yes, you are right robo.

Robomomo and Sugar Bear, with all due respect, you guys have absolutely no idea of what your are talking about.

I'm not trying to shut you up. I support your right to say what you want. And it's good you are interested in this subject.

But you have no clue what you're talking about.

Thank you for atleast giving us the right t have an opinion, however I know what I'm talking about in that I dont care about player GPA's. I want my alma mater to win so I have something to be excited about. Going over to the Football page now. If you read my quotes I've been advocating giving Bobby tenure, a real salary , and a governorship upon retirement from coaching. I don't hate coaches, just weak ones who undeservingly get extensions from cronies.

In today's world of D-1 Sports GPA does not mean #*%*. It is the APR that matters. So the real question is not what the basketball teams GPA is /was, because that can be manipulated by schools, it is what is the last year APR and the 4 year average APR for a school.

Now before some one jumps my case, yes the GPA is a factor in the APR, but if a kid gets a good GPA, but those classes do not add to his academic/graduation process, or that kid leaves/transfers out then that GPA does not help the APR rate.

On another note, to be honest I do not know what the Griz basketball team's APR was/is, although I believe it is actually quite good, but it is a stat you can readily look up on the NCAA site, for those who are curious.
