Was the targeting of Johnson intentional?

Wasn’t intentional. Wasn’t dirty and this whole conversation is ridiculous. Watch the replay of the young man who made the hit. Specifically when he made it to the Sac State sideline. He was alone on an island. Nobody saying “it’s ok” patting him on the shoulder or even talking to him. He was standing there alone and didn’t look like he was having a good time. I suspect he was doing what every decent college player does - he tried to make a play. Over aggressive and out of control maybe, but don’t think for a second the Sac State coaches would condone that behavior. BTW - how many Sac State coaches are former Griz? Are posters actually making the assertion that Sac State coaches would tell one of the players to take LJ out of the game through injury? Unbelievable. All I have seen on this damn board the last few weeks is excuses. Great teams find ways to win. Great teams overcome adversity. Great coaches reflect on their poor decisions and what needs to be changed. Don’t blame the refs, dirty plays, injuries or anything else. They find a way to win. Griz will win out and make the playoffs. Until then have some class and stop these nonsensical arguments. It’s embarrassing.

It was a very dirty play. Name-show any more dirty in college football.

You asked, here it is...at least 10 worse hits and some so much worse it's not even close.....https://youtu.be/-jN-Klm6JMc

Copper, likely the other players didn’t talk to 46 after his hit on our qb was they were shocked and embarrassed at the brutality of the action.

Dirty? Absolutely.

Intentional? That belies logic. Highly unlikely that it was intentional.

So you think 46 accidentally lowered his head-helmet and accidentally hit Johnson in the head-helmet when he was standing up and being tackled by 2 defenders? How did 46 accidentally lower his head? How did 46 accidentally hit a standing qb who had just thrown a pass, in the head? What do you think 46 was aiming at it?

What you are saying belies logic? Have you ever tackled anyone?

Hmmm, the only two I saw in that on the QB after the ball was thrown looked very similar. Interesting.

Almost none of them were targeting or helmet to helmet.

One by a no. 5 was a bad hit on qb, but the qb wasn’t being held by 2 defenders and no. 5 didn’t weigh 250.

Sorry, none as dirty as 46’s hit on Johnson.

Yes, I’ve tackled people and played football PR. Not that it matters.

I think the kid made a bad play, obviously. I doubt he was trying to injure somebody, or get himself kicked out of a game. Just doesn’t make sense. You of all people should know that things happen fast on the field. What looks slow on replay isn’t always slow on the field.

Dude. It was absolutely intentional. Was he trying to take Johnson out? Only he knows. But the cheap ass shot he took was 100% intentional. He knows. His coaches know it. Sac fans know it. The commish knows it .... (well, that may be a stretch, 'cause....) You know it.

Not intending to hurt someone or not wanting to get kicked out of the game, doesn't mean it wasn't intentional. I doubt that he was trying to hurt Johnson, but he clearly put his head down and hit Johnson in the head. In that situation, with Johnson being still and held, I don't know how the head down and hit in the head couldn't have been intentional. What do you think he was meaning to hit? What else could he have been aiming at? He had no need to put his head down. He was not going to get hit. My guess is that he was a dirty player at Texas, and perhaps not too bright.

Why is this thread still going?

It was definitely intentional. Idc if he “appeared” disappointed. If it looked that way it was because he got got caught doing it.

Why is this thread still going?

Because a cheap shot to the best pure QB in the conference cost the GRIZ two conference games.

Fact.

If Johnson wasn’t taken out SS would have lost. Sac State had to take the game into OT to win. Why?
LJ was brutally shredding Sac State until he took that cheap shot.

If he played in the Weber game it’s likely that would have been a win as well.

But they were not wins because:
1) there is zero depth at QB
2) Rosie Poser is a trash OC and needs to be fired.

Oh and for those of you saying a football player would never intentionally try to hurt someone, BS. It happens from high school to the pros. See Bountygate for proof of that.

Same BS against Weber. NCAA needs to remove this jack ass

Oh I’m certain we’ll see a very instructional tweet from the commish concerning the issue….

The hit in the Montana game was targeting and the penalty was enforced. The call today was questionable at best. You lost the last two weeks because your staff has not developed a quality backup quarterback. Who pretends they are a championship football team without a solid backup? After you’re done beating up on CP and Eastern Washington your going to get your ass kicked by the Cats. I can hardly wait to read the excuses for that debacle. By the way…did you see SAC beat Weber today? 😜

I think you are full of sh**, possible the cats will beat the Griz, however, I don’t believe they will. More importantly I really hope for another game against the bumble bees.
