Want to post with egocentric blue-nosed BC Bostonians?

I just took a look over there.
It's pretty much what I expected. Not only is Rivals lame in terms of the way the board works, the comments are typical of the people I run into every day here. That is to say, they are ignorant of anything beyond the tiny realm that is Boston. Of course, they consider this area the "Hub of the Universe." Boston has a lot to offer, to be sure. And if you can put up with rude people, piss poor drivers, pollution in those "muddy waters," crappy local government, overrated restaurants, sky-high housing prices, the record-setting murder rate, and other things too numerous to mention, then you'll be happy living here. I, for one, will not miss much other than the availability of cultural events and the left-leaning politics. Don't for a minute think Massachusetts is full of liberals. These people are the most conservative liberals I've ever met. They are more pious than some bible-thumpers I ran into when "Brother Jeb and Sister Cindy" would visit UM's campus!
That said, I can't blame them solely for their ignorance of anything outside this megalopolis. See, Bostonians pine for the notariety of New York City. They bristle at the notion that Boston isn't as world-class as NYC.
None of this has any bearing on tomorrow's game. I just felt like dumping it off of my chest.
Do yourselves a favor; don't bother visiting that board.
It's not worth the effort.

On another note, two of the more loud-mouthed and obnoxious kids in the classes I student-teach came in today and said they thought Montana was "a for real" team. They were impressed by how Montana controlled the game, and they think being -8 on the point spread is too much. They think it should be -4.

I'm not saying UM will win. I just think it's nice that MOST eGrizzers are enjoying the fact that our team is playing well, while they are nervous nellies wondering if their precious BC Eagles have what it takes to last another round.

This is why they play the games. If they win, they still have lots to prove. Our guys have already given their fans a terrific season for which we owe them our continued support.

GO GRIZ!

I read your thread, Silvertip. Way to stir them up. And kudos to you, CelticCat, for joining in the fun. ("CelticCat" aka "CatsWillRise"?)

Edit: sorry for the dumb question, CWR/CC. It just threw me for a loop seeing you all the way over there.

"Brother Jeb and Sister Cindy."

Now that takes me back. I think the last time I saw those two, Krysko and McBride were still playing for the Griz.

Those clowns were HILLARIOUS!! They used to draw massive crowds in the Oval. I know I blew off many a class listening to them. I'll never forget Brother Jeb doing his little hop-step when he talked about the evils of For - ni - ca - tion!!

Take your time, 2002. The last time I checked they were running entry-level geographic smack. One guy on the other board said he'd like to come over here but as he knows absolutely nothing about us he can't think of anything to say.

Wow... "this is a very bad match-up for Montana and will be little more than a scrimmage game for BC" "BC 107, Montana 34" "Isn't Montana in Canada?" "seriously...does montana score?" "Most years a 12 beats a 5, has a 4 ever lost to a 12 in back to back tourneys?"

Do these guys actually do any research on the team they are playing before spouting off with idiotic comments like the ones above?

Especially the "seriously... does montana score?" comment... That guy should have his basketball watching privledges taken away from him.. It doesn't take much research at all to figure out that the Griz offense is very good, and ranked very high in FG%, Assists per game, and points per game. Also its pretty apparent that these people never actually read about or watched what happened in the Nevada game... Nevada was being talked about by the ESPN talking heads as being a great defensive team..and the Griz seemed to be able to score on them :)

As for the guy wondering if the 12 seed wins against the 4 seed very often... Right off of ESPN's front page article (that has been up there for over a week now).

"4 vs. 12 | 12-10, 0.545
This matchup is closer than the disparity in seed positions indicates. The most reliable 4-seeds come from the Big Six conferences and have coaches with at least four years of tourney experience. They're 10-4 (.714), while other 4-seeds are 2-8 (.200). The most surprising 12-seeds also come from the Big Six or are mid-majors with less than nine wins in their last ten games. They're 9-4 (.692); other 12-seeds are 1-8 (.111). "

Yes BC is a very talented team...and will obviously be favored in the matchup... However they struggled with a mid-major team (Pacific) in their first round...and honestly should have lost that game. Pacific let a fairly large lead slip away in the final couple minutes of the game, and then let a 6 point (I think it was 6 points) lead slip away in the first OT. It took 2 FTs by a guy who shoots about 60some % from the line for BC to take the game to overtime (Not sure if that was even a foul really....at the time I watched it live I didn't think it was..but didn't see many replays)
