Wanna Feel Old?

Would Griz fans be more hyped to be going to frisco like we are now for a Natty or to be 6-6 playing in the Frisco Bowl like our once equals Marshall in front of 5k fans?

Might be unpopular, but I look at it a tad differently. Not Marshall’s best season, but they got a postseason game out of it. I think of it like this: The FCS National Championship is a HUGE achievement. No question. Huge. But would we beat either of those teams last night? Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl? Tough to say. We may never know.

To me, it’s possible to do these three things at the same time: 1) Enjoy the hell out of the fact that we’re one of two left standing in our division; 2) Acknowledge that #1 doesn’t mean we’re anywhere close to the top of CFB; and 3) Be curious, excited, and hopeful if we ever stepped up to see what we could do.

Look at the FCS playoff attendance 😬. We’re different, and it would be fun to see us act like it. Just my opinion.

I’m old, very old. The years went by so quickly. When you’re young, you seem to think youth is permanent, then all is gone.
Long gone in your case, friend.

That game was 28 years ago. I got t-shirts older than tha.........no I don't...............they DIED.... :(
I had to give away my '95 NC sweatshirts - too small.

Getting to the natty is very, very cool. But I would much rather see Wyoming, Nevada, Utah St., Fresno St and San Jose St in Wash/Griz than UNC, PSU, CPSLO, and ISU.

Pennington must have had that kid when he was 13.
Born in 2004, nine years after the game, so approximately 27 y/o. Google it.

Really. You wanna come at me with that shit? How about you stop being a dipshit and understand when someone is joking. Fucking douchebag.

Would rather be 6-6 playing a team that people have heard of.

Who cares what "people" think? They're the worst. I'm in this for MY enjoyment.

Shooooot...Old flew by me long ago. I played against Huot and Goicoechea...that'd be their dads...

There is no substitution for the playoffs in regards to the purity of this sport.

But FCS is a dying brand and yes, at this point I would rather get national coverage during the regular season - bring in teams like Boise, CSU, Fresno to WaGriz - and continue that exposure opportunity in a G5 bowl game.

I wonder what the ratings were for App State upsetting JMU this year, just after JMU hosted College GameDay.

A good year at G5 is more valuable than a great year at FCS. And given the exposure, maybe more entertaining.

That's just the way it is now.

Too many small minded people in Montana. When you think about UM and MSU think about Blockbuster because that is what is going to happen.

My immaturity offsets my oldness.

This is a credo around which my entire life is lived.

Growing older, but never up (compliments to the late great Jimmy Buffett)

Is that why I’m so excited to be going to Frisco!? I’m thinking of the all night parties!, the drinking!, the hot Texas babes!, the rowdy hell raising! And in reality…I’ll be back in the hotel room and face planted by 10. 🥺

This is true. Your memories of those college days fuel the delusion. I left those days behind 50 years ago, slowly but surely. Time takes its toll. It is said that some things you never forget how to do, like riding a bike. You should see me on a bike.

Yes, I’m old. Sat on the grass in the SEZ and I sat in the MSO at 4 am to find out my charter to the ‘95 chipper was canceled. I have many fond memories of ‘Nooga: Sticky Fingers! Some not so fond-the charter that died in Lincoln Nebraska, the hairnet field disaster. My kids, fourth gen UM students, grew up in WaGriz playing on the field after the games. My son got recruited by coach Green. Game day recruit invites and spring games were some damn proud moments. A senior year knee injury limited his options to punting and the timing was bad with the exceptional punting talent we had in 2019/2020 but while his cohorts (the current 6th year class) are going to Frisco to play in the Chipper, he has graduated UM, is a second year at Oregon Law and will be in Europe for a sports law seminar with the Olympic Committee. He got home in time to see the Semi and got to catch up with the guys after the NDSU game: priceless. So it’s all good. Life goes along. And, I’m going Frisco with my old college buddies. It’s been a good Griz life.
