I keep asking what happened to Emanuel in the CCU game. He seemed to have not played.

Did you watch the game? 7 tackles, 1/2 sack, 1 break up. Their LT is pretty good. They ran for big yards off their right side. Also, their qb had the ability to run and was very good about getting the ball out fast. CC is a quality team and program witnessed by the Griz in 2103. What was that score?

Guess that makes our 3rd string LT. All-world since he held Emanuel to 3 tackles and ZERO sacks.

I thought our RFr RT handled him without a problem. Didn't see NFL potential but that was only one game.

Here's a hint: He had as many tackles as your all-world Kyle Emanuel.

Really? Emanuel had 3 QB hurries compared to Wags 1. JJ is lucky Emanuel didn't knock him out of the game on the one QB hit.

Can you show me two plays where he beat our RFr RT? I did have a few beers before the game so I could have missed something.

Montana Grizzlies Prospects

DE – Zack Wagenmann – 6’3 255 – Senior

Wagenmann was consider the best pro prospect by many coming into this game. He is a legit 6’3 255 that plays LDE. Wagenmann did show some good acceleration to the QB and knows how to get the edge. But overall, this wasn’t his best showing. Wagenmann isn’t a P.O.A. guy and doesn’t have the elite level flexibility that you want to see coming from a pass rusher. And playing LDE, I expected him to be stout vs the run but he had problems disengaging from blocks. As of right now, based off my assessment, I think he’d be better suited as a WLB in a 4-3/3-4. Playing the run won’t be his strong suit but does have potential as a run and chase guy.

DE – Kyle Emanuel – 6’3 251 – Senior

Emanuel was THE best player on the field today. On the 1st three plays of the game, Emanuel either made or disrupted the play. He has a great inside move and uses his hands extremely well to play the run. Emanuel is a fundamentally sound player that is able to get of blocks, re-direct and accelerate to the QB. I saw a player that excelled on both ends of defense. And despite his listed size, I don’t think he’s an OLB in a 3-4, but can play either LDE or RDE in a 4-3. If he’s not playing on an NFL/CFL team next year, it’s a crime. I’m excited to see more of him moving forward.

Emanuel is a very good player. However, if you think that Emanuel's 3 tackles and 3 hurry ups, against a UM true frosh tackle playing/starting in his 2d college game and weighing only 253 pounds, is an indication of a great game--then you really didn't watch the game and don't understand it. By the way, Wags also had 3 tackles, and had a pass breakup and a hurry up. And, UM's frosh tackle was essentially a 3d team tackle at the time, who had been pressed into service after UM lost both of its starting tackles (academics and back injury) at the start of the season, and then the 2d team tackle, who was a walk-on TE who had been converted to o-lineman half way through spring ball, got hurt. So, Emanuel got 3 tackles and 3 hurrys, essentially playing against our 2d and 3d team tackles, both of whom were undersized, especially the frosh.

I recall speaking to several UM coaches during the week following the game. They said Emanuel was good, but didn't particularly hurt us or have his way with our frosh tackle (the breakdowns were more team blocking mistakes), and Wags had had a good game and been disruptive many times even tho he didn't have big stats.

Wags seems to have a knack for getting to the QB. Will he produce in the NFL? Who knows. Emanuel and Wags were both great FCS players. But arguing about the two like like they're Deacon Jones or Bruce Smith is petty. If either one has a long dominating or productive NFL career, it'll be a surprising...

I keep asking what happened to Emanuel in the CCU game. He seemed to have not played.

Did you watch the game? he was repeatedly shown handing out free Popsicles to every kid in then whole stadium in the first quarter. From there he taught a 3 year old to read and helped an 86 year old blind man learn how to play the piano. I think he actually found the field in the 2nd half for a bit and had at least 10 sacks in only 4 plays. From there he helped raise $1,000,000 for hurricane Katrina relief and then he helped donate a kidney to save an ailing fan. Then the 4th quarter hit and the real fireworks started, designed and choreographed by Emanuel himself. When the game ended he stopped by my house. You see... I'm infertile.... And now after that wonderful evening my wife is pregnant and due in a few months. This man is truly a saint.
