No changes should be made without an impact statement on the acoustics and temperature variables involved.
Count me out, my bracket is already toastget'em_griz said:MiningCityGrizFan said:I'd like to see them mirror the east side expansion on the west side to "balance out" the stadium.
The only difference I would see between the two is that the press box / coaches booths / suites (if needed) would run the full length of the expanded second level. All the additional seating would be directly in front of the new boxes.
Something like this:
That would leave the south end zone open for a larger video scoreboard in the future.
If there was ever any need for addition seating, then they could extend the east side seating as was part of the original east-side expansion plan.
If money were no object (ha, ha, ha) they could tie in the second level of the expanded west side into the Adams Center and join it with the Sky Club as well as add in more coaches offices, etc.
Anyone have an extra $100 million lying around?
If anyone from eGriz wins that $1 billion prize for picking a perfect March Madness bracket, I fully expect there to be a large donation to the football program! :thumb:

But the cost of the giant A/C unit to keep it bitterly cold inside the dome would cost a lot of money I would imagine.Big G said:grizfan95 said:Dome.
This is a great idea, more people would show up to games and it would be louder.

The expansion of the weight/locker areas and additional space is incredible. I would consider it a game changer for the UM... Seriously. Almost as big of a game changer as the building of Wa Griz was for the program.
Yet here we sit....building an Academics Center.

Should I just start running my future posts past you first to see if they meet with your approval?
Speak for yourself; the east side is awesome and we get the sun on chilly days.griz5700 said:[
Problem is people don't like to sit up there. I sat up there for a couple a seasons and now sit in NEZ132, which is awesome. The east side is easier for expansion, but expanding the west side has much more long-term value simply for the view of the M and hellgate canyon. I may be way off and maybe a lot of people love the eastside, but I won't ever sit over there. Regardless of demand, the U will always struggle to sell tickets in the east side expansion and adding 2,500 seats would be a huge mistake.
There's nothing "half-ass" about the east side expansion; it was well done. Not a bad seat.griz5700 said:I'd remove all current suites/boxes on the west side and start over. Be better to wait to 10 years, get the funds in order and do it right. Rather than hurry and half-ass it like they did with the east side.

"Balance" for GD was short capacity for high ticket demand so prices could keep moving up and he could skim more for his pet legacy projects.Silvertip said:In answer to the original question - there never was a master stadium plan. * Dennison periodically added just enough seats to keep the law of supply and demand in balance. The place has had about the same amount of planning behind it as the Winchester House in San Jose where the crazy gun heiress built a series of rooms with doors that led to nowhere in particular. Wayne Hogan, father of the unnecessarily expensive and over-engineered "bat wings" also comes in for censure...
* Actually, the architects had suggested expanded seating above both original sidelines that would have maintained the stadium's symmetry... But George knew better

No way. There's no concessions for starters. Totally different experience up there.

I had season tickets in the east side expansion the year it opened (I'd been on the waiting list for years) and loved them. The view of the field is incredible, and I loved that you could see downtown and most of the valley. Beautiful.
My only complaint is that I'm a NEZ-style of fan, and it was a little quiet up there for the likes of me. So I moved to the NEZ, where I'm more at home. But I still miss the vantage point the expansion provides.
