Vs Lumberjacks

Okay ... a win is a win.

But color me unimpressed. At home against the third-to-worst team in the Big Sky, and the Griz barely hang on to win by a bucket. That was absolute crap.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but the Griz look like they don't give s**t about the conference championship (and at least a guaranteed post-season invite). I suppose they figure they can turn it on when they get to the "real" competition ... the conference tournament. That is a recipe for disaster.

Oh well ... Why get worked up? They didn't (obviously).

Contrary to Ida, I think thas win was great. No Akoh, Rorie had 0 (!!!) points, NAU was hot from the 3 in the first half, and they just came off an emotional win on senior night (same as last weekend). Oguine had a great game. This senior class has been one of the best, glad I got to watch most of the home games in person. Can't wait to see how far they go this year. GO GRIZ

A win is a win and I’ll take it any day. But man they look a bit vulnerable lately. I guess I’m impressed they have won as many as they have without Akoh. That alone has been impressive. They only shot 57% from the FT like again. Almost cost them another win. I have no idea how this group of absolute talent can be so damn bad at a free 15 foot shot.

Wow... that was a heart attack

I have it on good authority that I know shit about the game... I never played college ball

I couldn't disagree more. NAU is not a great team but competitive in every way. They played a pretty good Montana team that does play to their opponent's level yet has the confidence of a winner. Also, the teams from most of the Big Sky rarely play in front of a couple of thousand fans. NAU on a good night probably sees 1000 in the seats. The crowd can motivate the visiting team just as much as they do the home team, maybe more. Also, when was the last time you saw Rorie go without scoring, yet Oguine hit his season high, and the much maligned and under appreciated (on Egriz) Morehead hit the three that jolted UM out of its slump. This is all good for UM. Who would have thought Weber State would crash so badly? The Big Sky Tournament is looking to be a very close call. But, UM still has to go to what may be the toughest place for them, Portland State and Sacto State..if they win those two, I think they will win the Tourney...I think you are "too harsh" in your judgement. Other teams have talented guys who came from places with winning records, as well. UM is not entitled to wins. They have to earn them and they have. So, it's good you are not getting worked up. The season continues. And, it is not boring, that's for sure.

Rorie 6 defensive rebounds...check. 4 assists.....check.....0 points....? His offensive scoring seems a bit neutered since Akoh's injury...Thoughts?

Griz shot only 57% because of Pridgett (0 - 3) and Dorsey ( 0 - 1 ). Falls (2 - 2) and Oguine ( 6 - 8 ) shot shot well from the free throw line. Pridgett is only a 55% free throw shooter for the season. He is the one guy you do not want to have at the free throw line. Dorsey is only a 66% free throw shooter.

On a positive note, praise God for Michael Oguine. That dude was a one man show and willed his team to victory.
We are in total agreement on this one! Pridgett had a great percentage shooting night from the field (7 of 10). But you look at the play-by-play and he almost disappeared after a turnover with 5:28 left in the game. (He did have an assist on one of Oguine's scores). Meanwhile, MO was all over the place at the end.

Think Rorie had only 1 TO.

Rorie scored 22 on Saturday. His scoring has been fine without Akoh. But 0-7 tonight.

Rorie tends to come alive when needed. He looks to involve the team as much as possible. If the team is struggling, he tends to step in and hit shots. They just didn't fall tonight. Them's the breaks. I'm sure he will be on point in the next few games.

Ugly win (with the exception of Mike). I’ll take an ugly win any day. One more ugly win in Portland, please. :thumb:

The refs. Nothing about how bad the refs were. C'mon, posters, you're letting down the eGriz brand.

Good effort by the Jacks

Since Murphy has been the coach, NAU always seems to play the Griz really well. I was a bit surprised when I saw his coaching record though. How is a coach that is 68 and 128 (129 now) still around? Were the majority of these losses earlier in his tenure?

He did great his first year, advancing to the CIT Finals. Since then, this is his best year. Not sure why he is still around, TBH
