Yes that is right. You can visit, meet, drink and have a great time June--06--2012 by attending the Hamilton GSA spring BBQ at a private residence from 4 PM --8PM This coming wednesday.

I have attended many of these annual events all over Mt. and this one is the best place to meet all the UM coaches of all sports. Many assistant coaches are in attendance. Visit with any and all of them. It is your chance to ask questions face to face. If some of you good people that never met the coaches and UM adm. this is your easy and fun chance! Some of you complainers,,,,, this is also your chance to man up and actually meet the coaches in charge.

This ain't no regular BBQ. The food is top of the line. Live and silent auctions. No host bar, excellent beer and wine. Cost is $25 per person. Location is 1143 Judd Creek Hollow ----Roaring Lion Road watch for signs. Usually about 120 ---140 people attend. Many are very interesting.

Way better chance to talk with coaches than attending a golf situation. Get in the game Griz boosters!
Support the kids. Call the Iten company in Hamilton at 406-363-1010 for location and RSVP. My Montana cabin is in the Bitterroot and I am in town for this great event. It's a Griz Go! :thumb:
 
To all the whiners and complainers of Griz coaching in all sports:

If you do not take a few moments and meet these men and women coaches you will have zero slack from me during your ignorant blasts of UM coaches unless you meet and get to understand our people in charge of our young men and women playing sports!

I have just spent the last seven days in the Dakotas and eastern Montana. Most of us spend a great amount of time in western Montana and forget how friendly and nice the people are in that area. They wave and actually like to meet and chat with you. While at a conference in Billings I met a woman that had her frosh (to be) daughter attending a function at the UofM. The mother showed me some bear pepper spray she forgot to give her daughter. I assumed it was for a field trip. No she said, it was for her protection from (you guessed it) rape. Sick of hearing about this so enough on that.

Find out from the coaches and all the others about our sports program. Don't listen to the wing nuts on E-griz blow and go. Lacking in knowledge and experience many on the board are ill-mannered and uncouth. I will go as my wife played volley ball which makes it easy for me to attend (and not play golf) plus I get to drink and she drives.

I agree with you on taking the time to get know our coaches. Wayne Tinkle, and his staff are damn impressive, personally, and professionally.

Like a lot of you I had to work. Will get back with some GREAT indepth information soon. Entire group of coaches at the bash with lots of good up 2 date information.

1. Jordy will play as it stands now. Still cloudy.

2. Mckinney and Smithwick-Hanm will do just fine if Jordy can't go.

3. Kids are all lifting , exception of 7.

4. Great attitude with all the players and coaches. "This" has all made the players pull closer together

5. I must move on, I promise to update with what I learned. Damn office lawyer is wanting to meet me #####later
 
I started this so I will continue some up dates from the bash.

Hammer, Scott Gragg will take over all duties as OL coach. The young guy (coach) from Portland St will be the D line coach. I can't understand his last name Suiaunoa but he sure seems like a good fellow, more on him later. Aric Williams cornerbacks coach mentioned we have some super studs coming in to play. Frosh. that he feels will be exceptional contributers right away. He was more up beat about his new guys than last year. So we will see. Shalon Baker seemed to think he has a surprise for us at receiver, also from the frosh. I told them both (Aric and Shalon) they were trying to spin me ...... both were smiling, smug, sure of themselves and I tend to agree with them. Both were not willing to tell me just who these mystery guys are. If wrong, they will catch hell this fall.

Mick Delaney gave a good talk. He is a guys guy. I also like him as I have talked to him for 3 or 4 years and he would not get into the particulars concerning the Xs and Os of the teams offense. Did say they have all the players on a tougher no nonsense behavior schedule than before. He feels the players understand what is going on and feels good about this team's future (this up coming season.)

The new OC (Rosy) is a "great get" for the Griz. In my opinion he is by far the best Offensive coach we have had for 20 years. His dad coached the Griz with Larry Donovan 27 years ago. He was a young kid growing up in Msla. with his dad as a coach. He is more than happy to be working as a Griz coach. This guy just oozes knowledge and enthusiasm. An ex pro quarter back this guy knows football. He knows that wining at Montana takes tons of work and he simply wants to win. I am on record with my high grades of him. Much more on him later.

Ty Gregorak is one of my favorite coaches. He is a tough no nonsense type of coach the players love to play for. Garners lots of respect from the kids and they respond to him. Will be a head coach one day. Is getting married in July. He still loves coaching linebackers but will now step up as the defensive coach and my money says our defense will be great. He will not stand for anything else. I kidded him about being over loaded with good linebackers and of course he took the line some of them could get hurt and he needed the young guys to be able to step up. A coaching line but I think he will do very well his first year of coaching our defense.

I did not notice any professional e-grizers attending this bash but some of you need to get off your butts and go to these kinds of programs, meet coaches, drink, eat and promulgate your knowledge to the world of the Griz.

Thanks for the positive posting. It seems like all we are hearing is the stuff in the Missoulian and Grizzly conversations tend to evolve to the investigations. It is great to hear of the good that is happening within the program. We may find this team loaded with strong leadership, determined to strengthen the Griz program, responsible for accepting blame for inappropriate behavior of it's member, and strong enough to make any necessary changes in attitudes/behaviors that will benefit the program.

We may be headed into our most successful year ever. You just never know how some problems can turn into opportunities. We are going to surprise a lot of people this year.
 
Umista - I think I know who that "card up his sleeve" is of incoming freshman. Chase Naccarato, the undersized kid from Spokane. He had a monster year his senior season and apparently ran even faster in spring track than in years past. Talking with someone who knows/follows Spokane HS football he said the Griz "stole" Chase and that he's going to be one of the best Griz of late thats come out of Spokane.

We'll see, but I keep hearing tons of good things on Naccarato.

Naccarato ran a 10.60 (hand-timed, corresponds to a 10.84 electronically timed) 100 meters this spring before he tweaked a hammy prior to divisionals.

That gives the Griz three new recruits with 10.84 or better 100 meters speed: Gamboa, 10.51; Walcott, 10.71; and Naccarato.

And if their recruiting videos are any indication, they're football players just as much or more than they are sprinters.

Football players with speed--nice.
 
The coaches were solid in remarking about the new frosh giving us immediate help in both receiver and corner spots. They would not "name drop" but stated I would notice right away. Speed, I feel the need. We simply need a burner on offense, two or three would make my day. Concerning defensive backs, we can use some help, if even one young stud shows up we will be tough again. I can't wait until the kids show up and we can watch the new ones. You guys are probably correct in Naccarato, he can fly!

Lots of determination and positive attitudes on all the coaches. Even concerning the absence of JJ, in case that does occur. Did visit about the fact a transfer could be in the mix. 50/50 chance. Rosy seems to think he can start with McKinney and or Smith/Wick/Ham in any event and they will work themselves into good players. Obvious difference in both styles and what each brings. Seems to think Kemp will play at receiver and I think they will have some special formations etc. for him.

Good report, many thanks; the messages are consistent with what we heard in Billings five weeks ago.

Interesting comments;

- Rosey talking about the QBs, I'd suggested a possible QB roatation with Trent and SSH - both have different qualities that fit well in the system, and I like the special sets add-ins for Kemp. As I understood it when Rosey was hired he had been studying the Griz for sometime - I would wonder if he saw some of the sets/offense that SHSU ran out and beleives he can do the game with G-Money.

- OL I believe will be rock solid this year, Gragg can teach technique very well. What I've not seen from Gragg is that mean attitude that a lot of OL coaches. Gragg has grown up as a college coach, in 2010 he was still treating the guys on the OL like they were high school kids, challenging them to "beat their coach" in a race when the unit had to jog somewhere shouting, "Beat your coach, don't be last!" Last year that went away and you saw a bit more vocal responses from him and he treated the guys more like men instead of boyw. Now in year three the entire OL will rely upon him and I think they'll do well.
 
Naccarato is a guy that has a chance to go the distance every time he touches the football. I also think it is a great under the radar get by the Griz.
