Talent evaluation is hardly an exact science whether it’s high school, college or NCAA. Especially with big kids in high school. Some are still growing into their bodies. My guess is one assistant saw something in this kid and advocated for him. Vim does a good job. I think he is right more than he’s wrong.

Sometimes it comes down to what teams needs are and where they project a prospect is best fit for them. Maybe csu needs a taller TE and the griz need more OL.
I certainly dont think Vim is necessarily off on his rankings. Dude has been doing it for years. Csu could have lost a few prospects to other school(s). It could even be a declaration for a major. Csu is also a good Veterinary school. Too many variables.

Exactly. You did, but what did the team need or what did he want? Botner is a great example. He was recruited as a TE/Ath. Once he was on campus, Dillon wanted to play on the line and not TE.

Spoke with a West recruits dad. He thinks Olsen will definitely be a Griz. Honestly shocked he hasn’t announced it yet. Thinks Humphrey is deciding between Griz and Cats but leaning Griz. They are excited to have three West High kids together especially with how close they are. Humphrey is getting recruited by Oregon State and Washington State, plus Idaho State. Said conversations with Idaho State have been very impressive but no real chance he goes there. Told Nevada he was no longer interested. Might do some official visits this summer so not in a huge rush to commit.

Said something interesting. Recruiting has been night and day different since BK started. Dad said he is thoroughly impressed with BK because he seems to really care about the kids and the families. Said there was about a 0% chance he’d be going to the Griz if Hauck was still coaching. Also said he feels the cats are starting to get desperate. His words not mine.

So guess we will see how this shakes out. But looking good to add to the class with some more Montana kids. Then need to finalize with some solid out of staters.

I will laugh hysterically if UM manages to recruit eight of the top ten players in Montana.
