Vim/Howard. Tech tweeted that they have another HS Montana kid. Any idea?

Nope.

Vim - any idea why Cats didn’t recruit OL Cole Sain (I know he technically graduated from CA, but grew up in MT first 10 years) with Dad (all conference guard in 80’s) and Uncle playing there in Bozeman?

There was interest but no offer from what I can see. The only thing I can come up with is Cole will likely be developed at guard or center. The Bobcats have a young offensive line and is backloaded with young players on scholarship, especially at the interior line positions. The main position MSU has been recruiting on the offensive line, as far as high school players, is tackle as we need some more depth there. I've paid attention to the recruits offered since last signing day and the few OL recruits the Cats have offered, nearly all of them have been offensive tackle prospects. Does that help? As far as interior line recruits, MSU has been searching for drop-down or JUCO help at the position to compete with the younger guys this spring/next fall.

The only two in there who made our lists were Kadin Lahti and Tyler Flink (#41 and 45 on Howard's list), both of Missoula Big Sky. Janacaro, Lahti, and Flink were a tough trio to stop in the backfield in 2017. Lahti can play RB/WR/DB and Flink is a FB/LB recruit. Both had some interest from the Cats and Lahti may have had a PWO offer but I don't know for sure. Anyway, the rest of the Montana kids have either already been discussed or kids who are fits at the NAIA level.

Also, Sidney RB Alec Lovegren (#41 on my list) just signed with Dickinson State.

Looks like the Cats just got a commitment from an interior lineman that's insane

I can give a pretty good estimate of what Montana recruits are going to or should get interest from the Cats/Griz from year to year. As far as overall MSU recruiting goes? I'm guessing 80% of the time. I tried to come up with an explanation but I should have just said "MSU didn't recruit this kid and I do not know why they didn't offer." I still think MSU needs to recruit more offensive tackles as they are pretty loaded at guard for a while now. Just my opinion.

FINALLY a dude who can KICK!!! MAJOR congrats Nat and welcome to the Griz and the University of Montana. Here's to an AWESOME future and career at MONTANA!

Vim and/or Howard; I don't see Nate Ferguson on either of your lists. Do you evaluate kickers or no?

Two years ago I ranked Jered Padmos as a Top 20 player in the state and I got PM after PM about how I could justify putting a kicker/punter that high. So no I don't evaluate kickers or punters now. However, Nate has one hell of a leg and he almost made my Top 50 as a TE. He should have a good career at the UM.
