Vigen is staying at MSU

I think this is probably correct except I don't believe Coach Vigen turned down the job because he insisted on coaching the playoffs.
I think in both cases of WSU last year and OSU this year it came down to salary. Both schools were offering just a bit more than $1 mil. He's looking for $2+ mil. Both schools are likely career killers for a coach that is 50yo. He wants a contract of more than $2 million of three to four years and he'd be gone playoffs or not.
He's going to get that much from someone if he doesn't wait too many more years toiling away at Montana State.
It is cute how the griz fans are here talking about how nobody wants him or that he is disastisfied at his current job.
Reporting has the new coach at 9+ million over 4 years If Vigen was offered even half that and turned it down he is a dumbass. Life changing money for him and his family. So I bet pulled out after knowing was not the choice, even he isn’t that dumb to pass that up

"Vigen and Oregon State arrived at an early impasse over his potential start date in Corvallis. OSU wanted the new coach to start right away. The FCS playoffs are about to begin and could drag out for weeks. Vigen wanted to stay with his team throughout the playoffs. That was a dealbreaker for Barnes."
He is either incredibly stupid or this is the definition of the Peter Principle.
I guess either way it’s the Peter Principle

I don't believe he turned down the offer because of a start date. My guess is they did offer him the job but they offered him the low ball rate of $1.2 mil. If they would have offered the current coaches rate of $2.2 million and four years you would have seen how loyal he was to sticking around for the FCS playoffs.

And I will speculate that if he really turned down OSU he is stupid. Which of course you are adamant that he isn't, so...
I look at him winning the Coach of the Year two years in a row. If he can do that he is not stupid. What does it say about the other Big Sky Coaches when you call him stupid. We are now at seven pages of speculation.
