Viewership of NDSU-SDSU on ESPN2

For more comparison, Montana vs NDSU in last year's semifinal playoff game had 790k viewers on ESPN2. Against Furman, we had 679k viewers. Granted, those were the only games on tv at the time.

Will be interesting to see what we draw for viewers in 3 weeks when we host UC Davis on ESPN2.

All of our regular season games on ESPN2, we’ve averaged right around 250k. The cat number was shockingly bad, but I get it, it was a bad game. I thought NDSU-SDSU would produce a slightly better number, but they were competing with the game of the year in Georgia-Texas, so that’s a tough one to tango with. I’m interested to see what USD-SDSU on ESPNU puts up for a number this week. If they can get 75k, that’s a win for ESPNU.

There’s some big SEC games the night of our game against Davis. Bama-LSU and Georgia-Ole Miss, but I would think both of those games will probably be about over by the time we kick off so we may not have much to compete with. Guess we’ll see if both teams can crack the top 5 by the time that game rolls around.

I think that game being past the east coasts bedtime hurt a lot.
Ya I won't sit here and say our ratings would have sky rocketed because we know they wouldn't have. But the Marker was 8pm eastern and our game was 10pm eastern. Certainly doesn't help.

They're two very established teams and winners of a million national championships.

They're game was excellent. Ours was more or less over at halftime.

Along those lines, I have now idea how these ratings work. Is that anyone tuning in at all? Tuning in for a certain amount of time? Or anyone that watched the entirety? I've never known how the tv ratings are established.

The numbers vary widely depending on starting times and other games being played in the same time slot. Hard to make any type of comparison.

Actually, it's very easy to make a comparison, as I did above: more people were watching the weather channel than this football game.
