But then he stayed close to home (O State) before moving on to BSU. He got plenty of reps there, and even did well in their bowl game. So why would he leave?WaGriz4life said:Unless we bring in another big time transfer QB, Vidlak should take 100% of the 1st team reps in the fall. It’s so obvious he is better than anyone else currently
Made a bet with myself that BSU wanted to go to a heavy "dual threat" QB style. Well, it appears that they did. In fact, the current #1 QB sounds almost like a "run first" guy. He's good at it, and a significant factor in their run game. Back in HS, Vidlak was rated the #18 pro-style QB in the country. He can run, but that's not his thing. I'd have bailed too.

With what looks like a loaded running back room for the Griz, Vidlak should be able pick and choose when the run after reading his pass options.
At one point, he committed to Montana and then backed out.
He's a better passer than Johnson, and can use his legs to extend plays - that was on display plainly on Friday. If the O-line works out, and the running game can be made to function more consistently, that's all that will be necessary 98% of the time.
