Vernon Adams gone 3-6 weeks

Hrmmmmmm.......bad deal for EWU. They'll need points to make up for the ones their defense allows. Will be interesting to see how West does. They were sure reluctant to put him in yesterday but my guess is Adams was doing the "I'm ok" thing and really hoping he actually was (ok)

Wish there would be some more coverage here (espn3 or the likes) of EWU games. I'd like to see how this first game or two without VA plays out.

@ NAU - 3rd in total defense
Vs UND - 2nd in total defense
Vs UM - 1st in total defense
@ PSU - 10th in total defense

We won't be putting up 50+ a game, but West is good enough for 30-40 a game with the talent at OL, WR and RB we have. None of those teams have an offense that is remotely as good as UW, MSU, or ISU's. We should be able to scrape by to 11-1 or 10-2.

Still a very real chance to win them all, looking on the other side of things;

SUU - 8th in total offense / avg 20.8 ppg
UNC - 11th in total offense / avg 16.8 ppg
NAU - 6th in total offense / avg 28.7 ppg
UND - 13th in total offense / avg 12 ppg
UM - 10th in total offense / avg 25.7 ppg
PSU - 9th in total offense / avg 23.4 ppg

As of right now NAU and UM pose the biggest challenge, but if EWU can get to 30 they'll probably be in a good position to win.

Ewu might struggle for a game or so, but they'll be fine. It isnt Adams, it's the coaching g staff and their system. I think everybody is about to see that VA isn't the second coming...

Yeah, because it couldn't possibly be both... a great coaching staff that recruited a great player. :roll:

West won't put up the numbers that VA does, but we will still win most of our remaining games.

The eagles offense changes significantly w/o Adams. He is a dual threat and causes issues with any coordinator. He's not the leader for the Payton Award for nothing. Sorry but west won't even remotely resemble Adams. DC's won't have quite as much on their minds. If the eagles defense doesn't step up they will have a tough go.

Eastern needs to essentially survive two games, NAU and UM and Adams May be back by the Griz game. Those saying eastern is done this year just look at the remaining schedule...a lot of fairly easy games left, eastern still has a chance to run the table in the big sky...

West is a capable backup. Not mobile like Adams but has a great arm, every bit as capable at throwing it. Big Qb, big arm, a lot like the Qb's ewu had before Adams came here. Eastern will be fine but the offense not nearly as dynamic with Adams out. Definitely a playoff team still and will get a rested Adams back for the playoffs...

Look, if Adams converts just one less third down on one drive in either of the MSU or ISU games, Eagles lose. I just don't see West converting third downs at the same rate as Adams. EWU's defense has to step up to add more third down stops or they are in trouble.

West and our offense isnt going to be the problem going forward, our Defense is. West has a big arm, will stay in the pocket more, but will definitely get the ball downfield to our receivers, I don't think anyone is worried about our backup. We will probably score a little less than what we have which means our D will have to get a couple more stops, and that is the problem moving forward...
