Like I said, Van is totally impressive. Canada is a good one too but theCats have excellent RBs also in Kirk, Johnson, Newell and the new Brandon Davis who you haven't seen much of yet but he is flat out fast. Throw in Gunnar Brekke too. Just say'in not a big difference at that position.

I know I'm a homer but our backs are on another level. Not even close..

Have to disagree on that one. One game doesn't tell the story. To be objective I don't see a big difference at that position. Both teams have excellent running backs no doubt but the griz are not at another level. Let's see a few more games and then maybe we will see.

Nothing is going to change this season after one game. We will continue to run the ball down our oponents throat. The biggest difference between yous guys and us is SPEED. You'll see..

I'll bet you right now (a hat/avatar/signature bet) that the Griz RBs have more 100 yard games than the Cats RBs, and when we play in November Canada and Van both go over 100 yards, and no one on the Cats team gets to 100. :coffee:

As a Marshall fan, Im glad Van done well last night. Especially since it was against the Slappy Appys. Sounds like his knee and hip flexer are both 100% now. I hope he does that game after game for Montana. Would have loved to seen him do it at Marshall but we just couldn't wait any longer. Van is a good kid off the field also, he was one of the 1st to volunteer to do anything in the community.

Seriously, thank you guys for him.

He is going to be a phenomenal RB for us.

Totally! There was a play in the first half that the TV crew replayed several times. He made a cut that caused two defenders to basically fall over. Quick, and always seems to fall forward.

That was the run where viewers lost their jocks too.  :thumb:

Are you stealing my joke? Hahaha

Not arguing with you guys. Van is a talent for sure. Shawn Johnson is a speedster too. The new guy Davis is flat out fast. You will see more of him. The difference is not the RBs. You guys have a an experienced excellent OL. That is the difference. Yes, you should have more 100 yd games by your RBs. Not disputing that. I think the Cat's will be running the ball down an oppenets throat too with Kirk and Chad Newlell and an improved, bigger OL.

Everyone at Marshall was excited when he came to Marshall. If the NCAA had declared him eligible (The Clearinghouse said 2 of his credits his senior year was to similar and only allowed one, so he was a credit shy) he would have been in Gainsville FL playing for the Florida Gators. If Florida is going to recruit you, then you know you have serious skills.

Except that you are arguing.

I'd take Van, Canada, and Counts over any three of your guys, and I'd imagine most FCS fans would agree. :coffee:

It might just be me, but he definitely seemed like he had SEC speed, cutting ability, and, most importantly, swagger.

So be it. To say most FCS fans would agree I think is premature at this point. We are only one game into the season. Van may be the best running back ever in the Big Sky before it's over, but that's why games are played. He had some insane runs last night for sure.

When Van arrived on Campus we only had one player faster then he was. And that is now NE Patriot WR Aaron Dobson. Im just glad he found a good place to land and showcase his ability. I would have hated to see him somewhere like Furman or Western Carolina where he would have had no shot to do what we at Marshall know he can do.
