It’s about time we got a damn boat. We got screwed out of an entire battleship class in WW II.

It took the Navy 80 years to fix that.

We had the USS Helena and the USS Missoula. Indeed the first flag planted at Iwo Jima was from the USS Missoula. However, the commander thought it was too small so requested another flag to be planted.

Edit: Both the flags flown were from the USS Missoula!

Recently they launched the USS Billings.

No. As explained above the Grizzly Bear is Montana’s state animal. Has nothing to do with UM

USS MONTANA SSN794 Submarine crew to be a JMU game

The Navy is 99% complete in building a Virginia Class fast attack submarine the USS MONTANA. The Commanding Office and Crew are all in for Montana. The call themselves the “Vigilantes of the Deep” in reference to our history of Vigilante justice. 3-7-77 is prominent on their apparel. The sub and crew is stationed in NewPort News, VA about 70 miles from JMU. Some of the sailors plan to be at the game and hopefully the JMU announcers and ESPN crew will give them recognition. (That is being worked on).

Those at the game if you see some of these sailors in uniform please give the a hearty Montana welcome as they defend our freedoms!!! GO GRIZ.
