USC Transfer QB Jake Jensen Commits

On the topic of QBs, in my 48 years of watching Griz football, it was amazing to watch Drew Miller and Craig Ochs throw a football. While there have been many guys over the years that could throw, the ball just came out different with those two.
Man, I’m glad you posted this. I remember watching Ochs throw up close in warmups from the student section. It just came off his hand differently. IDK anything about QB throwing motions, but his had a different integrity/snap.

Fife needed some coaching - he got it - and didn't like it.

Attitude and effort matter - one QB displayed far more...

Again - we don't see practice or other off field activities - they matter as well.

Anyway - Fife can get coached elsewhere. KAY can compete to start. I'm OK with all of that.

Soldier, as I have said, a nephew played safety for Air Force several years ago. His football career ended late in his senior year with an injury at Army. Many of the family had taken a ferry from lower Manhattan to the game. Another nephew graduated from Army 2.5 years ago. I went to his graduation. He’s from Bozeman. He was a manager for the football team his last few years. Loved it. Is deployed in South Korea now. Is engaged to a classmate. She was captain of the cheer squad. And also deployed to a different base in South Korea now. Her dad was a Ranger and career guy.

Absolutely. Similar to watching PGA guys on the practice range. The sound at contact is just different.
Dude, isn’t that the truth! I dabbled at being relatively good once upon a time, but I caddied for a guy who was actually good. I swear I never saw him miss a shot on the range; he swore he never hit one solid. Just sounded different, as you said.

Just a quick aside before we get back to regularly scheduled programming: I was at Riviera two years back and followed Morikawa for a few holes. He had a wedge into a par four on the back 9 right on the ropes where I was standing about four feet away. I swear to God when he hit it I felt it in my feet. Sorry for the long post; it struck a nerve. 😂

Awesome! Loved my time in Korea as a young Soldier. Will the wedding be at West Point?

I absolutely agree with you. Their decision-making and the speed of their release were something to watch. Miller getting hurt cost us a National Title in 2000.

Certainly doesn't seem like a "you're the guy if you come here" type of move, for sure.
Really curious with this trend, what sort of expectation is conveyed to them, i.e experienced QB transfers? "You will compete to play or "You will likely start and lead"? What do the portal QB's convey to the schools, "I will play get substantial playing, (or I will leave)? "I will be completely fine with backup, or even bench"? Looks like this will be Jensen's 4th stop: BYU->Contra Costa->USC->UM, a true blue portal player!!

The fact that we signed a quarterback who cannot run after watching what Cliff did last year and these semifinal games shows the incompetence of this coaching staff.
