We now have some track records to base picks on, so here goes. Right up front, let me remind you that I never include Big Sky games in these polls because people vote their “hates” rather than really thinking about the matchups.

Three games are ranked-vs-ranked matchups and that always add some interest. But the other games I’ve included offer some interesting “story lines.”

That starts with the UNI game. Indiana State’s only loss was to FBS Louisville, then they won handily on the road at Eastern Illinois. Now they’re at home for their conference opener -- Possible upset?

It’s also the conference opener for South Dakota and SIU. I ranked SIU the (slight) underdog because of who the two teams have played. Both have wins against weak sisters (Murray State for USD, Northern Colorado for SIU.) Both lost to FBS teams. I give USD a slight plus since their other loss was to ranked Weber State, while SIU lost to unranked SE Missouri State.

Austin Peay dropped out of the top-25 with their loss this past weekend, but they are supposed to be a good team and could stage a bounce-back. That’s mostly why I included the Samford game: They were supposed to be a strong team (worried FBS Florida State), so perhaps they too are ready for a bounce-back.

I threw in the William & Mary vs #24 Colgate game to see how many wonder if Colgate is for real. W&M, with losses to FBS Virginia Tech and #2 JMU, should provide a strong test playing at home.

Harvard is not ranked, but they’ve looked pretty good so far. At home, they should be a good test for the Rams.

Two picks allowed, and you can change them later if you want to.

I only picked 1, Harvard. Anytime I can pick an Ivy league team to win, I like to. Not sure any of the others have a shot

I know the record for William & Mary looks bad, but as I said above, their two losses were to FBS-ranked Virginia Tech and FCS #2 JMU. (A game with Elon was canceled.) On the other side, Colgate's 3-0 record looks impressive. (They too had a game canceled.) But the combined records of those opponents is 1-10. And the single opponent win was an OT game at home for Holy Cross, decided by a FG.

So I’m surprised that no one thinks W&M can, playing at home, beat Colgate.

There's my second vote...you happy? sheesh...crybaby :D

SDSU over NDSU....Just because I want it to happen.
That was my reasoning as well.
"Reasoning" :?:

I figured that was why the game was getting the most votes. On the other hand, SDSU has won their last two games (home-and-home) against NDSU. Perhaps they can three-peat.

Okay, reasoning may not have been the correct word ha ha. I actually was aware that SDSU has had NDSUs number of late, so there was some thinking involved, however minor. ;)

RE: The specific poll about the SDSU-NDSU game. There is a lot of sentiment that favors the "upset," so it'll be interesting to see how the specific question plays out.

As "Boyz" agreed, SDSU is actually on a win streak (two games  ) against NDSU. Personally, I'm guessing that the Bize will be on a mission to end that "streak."

Reminder: The twelve (as of this moment) people who voted for an Indiana State upset can still change that vote to something among the games remaining. ;)

That is not accurate.

NDSU beat SDSU 36-10 in the playoffs in 2016.

They are on a 1 game win streak...if you want to call that a streak.

Oops, my bad.

The page I used only showed the regular season records ... missed that playoff game (and should have remembered it anyway).

Still, I might have said a "regular season streak," since for both of those years SDSU handed the Bison their only regular season losses. That seems like enough cause for a motivational speech or two. :)

Right.

All in all we’ve seen this song and dance before. This game is SDSU’s super bowl. I’d be surprised if they won but I’d be the least bit concerned if they did.

Until they prove it in the playoffs, I’ll continue to call them what they are. A perennial pretender.

C'mon people. Only four more votes to hit a hundred.

(I see at least one person "withdrew their support" for an Indiana State upset  )

One matchup not on the poll that was a bit of a surprise upset: #16 Maine has looked really good, but they went into Yale and got thumped, 35-14. Leaves a spot for the Griz to move up after they pound CP this evening.
