This week we have just two “marque” games with ranked teams playing each other. As you may recall, I don’t normally do games involving Big Sky teams. However, there were such “slim pickins” this week, I did include it this time around.

The field was narrowed because several ranked teams are playing winless opponents, so they didn’t look like reasonable chances for an upset. (Of course, Penn hasn’t played yet, so I kept that game in.) I’m not sure Central Arkansas has much chance to upset Hawai'i, but it seems more likely than the other FBS matchups.

Finally, to round out the list, I included one “losers” bowl, picking the home team as the favorite.

In case you were wondering, three of the eight games in last week's poll were indeed upsets.

As usual: Two picks, can be changed later.

It always seem like the Ivy teams impress more than I expect so I went with Penn. Also Chatty at home versus JMU because it would make me happy (although very unlikely)

Chattanooga is a fascinating situation. They've had some success in recent years, they seem to have some decent players ... yet they have trouble making good things happen now. It would please me no end to see the Mocs knock off the Dukes, but I'm not hopeful.

UCD over NDSU - because I want it.

Losers bowl - why not...

Yeah, that's why I included it ... just for fun. And, while UNH seems like the clear favorite ... "On any given Saturday." :)

I picked UCD over NDSU....and I think UCD gets rolled by 21+....that’s how likely any upset is this weekend.

Not the most promising set is it?

However, I don't think I've ever done one of these where we ended up with zero upsets. Gonna be fun to see what happens.

This is a tough poll, I went with Rhode Island and Penn and have about 5% confidence one of them will come through.

Tough is right! But here are some of the other choices that I didn’t include:
#22 Elon (2-1) at Wake Forest (3-0)
North Alabama (1-2) at #10 Jacksonville State (2-1)
Colgate (0-3) vs #12 Maine (1-2)
Missouri State (0-2) vs #7 Kennesaw State (2-1)
Stephen F. Austin (0-3) vs #13 Nicholls (1-1)

Wake Forest is on a role, so I had to figure Elon has zero chance for an upset. I did consider North Alabama … except they’re going to be at Jacksonville State. J-State may be over-rated, but I just don’t see them losing at home.

All the other matchups have “underdogs” who have not yet won a game. Are they suddenly going to get it together against a ranked (#13 and up) opponent? Doubtful … to say the least, even if they are at home.

FYI: The only time I tried to change a poll "in midstream," I screwed it up (existing votes went away). But if you want "bragging rights" on one of the above games, just enter it as a post. :)

Their game withe Villanova is already the leading vote-getter. Might this change anyone's mind?

Okay ... overtime saved me from having to eat those words. Villanova (the #1 pick and mine too) did pull off the upset in OT.

Two games left, and Lamar does have a narrow (FG) lead in the 3rd quarter. But SE Louisiana is driving. And ... Who know? ... Maybe Central Arkansas can upset Hawaii.
