... You really seem to be confusing RI and Delaware. RI has never played for the NC.
Well, somebody sure has the two confused -- but it's my "gotcha."
That's what happens when you don't cross-check stuff you get off the Internet. I downloaded what I thought was the Rhode Island football records (as a PDF) from a sports archive site (since I could not find it on the NCAA site). But cross-checking just now at ESPN, the data is completely different. So I either clicked on the wrong file at the archive, or they had it mis-labeled. Sigh. :(

Actually, the online records at ESPN go year-by-year back to 2002. Not once in that span of years did Rhode Island have a winning record. So they really are that bad.
I think that I may have been confusing them with Maine who has been good in recent memory...wikipedia page on their team shows their last playoff appearance in 1985.

SDSU, NDSU, Northern Iowa and Illinois State may be the best 4 FCS teams in America. Something's got to give. I picked SDSU and UNI to win this weekend.

Yep, this has got to be one of the great football weekends for this early in the season. :thumb:

And, while I didn't vote for it, I'm pulling for a Liberty win (which I consider not out of the question) ... if for no other reason than to make the Griz's "resume" look better.

Plus, there's always the intrigue as to whether or not Rhode Island will win a game this season.

I was going to wait and use this comment to "bump" the thread tomorrow morning. ;)

BUT: Who are all these people who are voting that SDSU pull off the upset because they are at home? Do they really believe that, or are they just hatin' on the Bison ... or hoping? (I'm betting the latter. )

Pure unadulterated HATE.

NDSU owns SDSU like 7 straight wins

Ps. Mvfc does things right. for pacing out their games on ESPN3 perfectly this weekend.

1:00PM game UNI vs. Ilinois State

3/4:00PM three MVFC games that could be interesting, ISUb vs. Missouri State, YSU vs. USD, SID vs. WIU

7:00PM game NDSU vs. SDSU

this is exactly what conferences should be doing all across FCS. it's going to be a great weekend of MVFC football on ESPN3.

Hatin' and hoping ... as I said. :hater:

On a better note, those who have DirecTV with its Sports Pack can watch one of the "upset" games tonight (5:00 MT) on channel 681 -- Lamar at #22 SE Louisiana. Be a chance to see if Lamar really is a sleeper, or just a "pretender."

So far, so good for Lamar. They lead 14-13 at the half. SE-LA apparently has a piss-poor kicking game (missed a PAT and would not try a FG inside the 20 to take the lead at half).

Glad I didn't include the Stony Brook at #6 James Madison game among the upset picks. JMU leads early in the 2nd quarter 28-7. Stony Brook came into this game #4 in scoring defense, giving up just 12.0 ppg. Guess they won't hold that position after today. :)

Couple of games to go, but the only upset -but it's a good one -- was Liberty beating Georgia State. G-State is a pretty weak FBS, but it is an FBS ... so good for the Griz SOS.

Wow. An upset that was not quite expected ... Delaware wins at home over #25 William & Mary, 24-23 (last-second FG).

Meanwhile, Eastern Kentucky is currently leading Kentucky (FBS, SEC) 27-13 mid-way through the 4th quarter.
