We have an absolutely crazy weekend coming up, with four games that match ranked teams against each other. On top of that, we have several games where teams with credible records are going up against ranked teams. In fact, all of the matchups have at least one ranked team.

Making it even more interesting, we have six games where the under-dog is playing at home. Seems like a formula for a lot of upsets, but you’re only allowed to pick two.

As usual, you can change your picks later if you want to.

Just a FYI. Of the nine choices on last week's Upset poll, only two happened: #21 Sam Houston State beat #13 Central Arkansas, 34-31 in OT, and #18 Stony Brook beat #13 Villanova, 29-27.

I'll be really surprised if we don't see more upsets than that next weekend.

NAU over Weber isn’t an option. That’s my crazy pick of the week.
Should have included by "standard disclaimer" -- I never include Big Sky games because too many people just pick the teams they hate and want to lose, not who they think might.

Roger that, I guess I haven’t been paying enough attention to catch the disclaimer. Chattanooga and SD for upset bids.

Oh, and NAU over Weber.

Well, you couldn't catch the disclaimer for this week because I failed to put it in at the start. ;) :) (It was in last week's poll.)

Back when I started this notion (not quite sure how long that's been), I did post a separate poll just for the Big Sky. But it soon became clear that people were voting their "hates" rather any football reality ... so I dropped it. I do not have a patent or license or whatever on the idea, so you're welcome to post a Big Sky poll if you'd like.

Oh, and I don't see your pick of NAU as out of line. Weber has looked good, but not great, so far this year. NAU is at home and they should be getting used to operating with their second-string QB.

I think WIU and South Dakota have the best chances.

Same choices here. Some of that is i REALLY want WIU to do better than their preseason ranking just to help the Griz. I am also very interested to see how UNI does against UNDSU

Misery State is ranked? I guess technically that would be an upset.
:thumb:

M-State got a lot of poll mileage out of their home win over Illinois State, which was ranked #9 at the time. Of course, I-State was pumped in the poll by its decisive win over FBS Colorado State. But CSU has proven that its pretty awful this year, so that's looking less and less impressive. Here's something else I just noticed: After going on the road to Okie State (where they got pounded, 58-17), the Bear have played (and won) three straight games at home. Now they're going back on the road.

Still, your statement is accurate. Because M-State is ranked and South Dakota is not, a USD win would -- "technically" -- be considered an upset. In reality, I give the 'Yotes a real good chance to win this game.

Hmmm ... Dartmouth is currently beating the crap out of Yale, 34-10 entering the 4th quarter.

No big deal, but this is the same Yale team that handled Maine, 35-14. Makes me wonder a bit more about Maine's ability to upset Villanova (even though the Bears are at home).

since you are new here, you should know that polls are supposed to have a vote for bobcats suck.
having said that, this is a tough week. I can see South Dakota, hoping for UNI and going with NAU for the trifecta.

You are SO right. I used to put that on my separate Big Sky Upsets polls -- which I don't do any more. Maybe next week I'll add that option to this general poll. But I'll have to allow three choices, otherwise too many people will "waste" a vote on the self-evident "Bobcats Suck!"

As for the choices this week, they really are tough. I started with a some that I consider reasonably close ... and picked the home teams, Chattanooga and Towson. But I'm open to change right up until the last.
