Lots of ranked vs ranked matchups this week, so lots of creditable chances for upsets. To that, I added games where a ranked team faces a team with a winning record. Finally, just to add some fun, I included a
“losers bowl.” Be interesting to see if anyone picks our patsy, Mississippi Valley State, over Arkansas Pine-Bluff … which at least has a win this year.

As in past years, underdog on the left, two choices allowed and you can change your vote.

Where is UM vs ISU?
(1) Upset possible, but not highly likely.
(2) Seldom put in matchups where people vote against who they hate most, rather than going with what they think might be a really credible chance for an upset. Included CP vs EWU only because I thought it was a toss-up as to who people on here hated more. As for NoCol vs UND, I figured no on really gives s**t either way ... So why not?

In past years, I have sometimes gone with a separate poll for the Big Sky. If it looks like people are voting on their "pet hates" rather than really considering possible upsets, I'll probably do that again. And anyone who doesn't think CP has a credible chance for an upset at their house ... hasn't been paying attention.

EWU vs CP is a legitimate choice. I assumed that the current mental state of egriz would have justified UM vs ISU.

Gotcha. But, you see, I'm an old geezer (no question about it). I'm afraid I'm not much in tune with "the current mental state" of many posters here -- except to note that some of them seem to occupy an alternate reality/universe. ;)

Somewhat surprised not to see more action on the JMU at Richmond game. JMU is very good, but so is Richmond ... and the Spiders are at home.

FYI: DirecTV is showing a broadcast of this game on channels 639 and/or 696 (1:30 pm MT). If the game's not blacked out in an area, it'll be interesting to see what these teams look like.

Upset picking skills in serious doubt. :o

We had our first real upset of the day, and it was one I thought was maybe the least likely: Gardner Web (4-6) beat #8 Charleston Southern (5-3) at CSU, 17-10. Who woulda thunk it?

Amazingly enough, this might have been the upset of the day in FCS. The #6-#7 JMU-Richmond was going to be a toss-up anyway. And, right now, Cal Poly's chances do not look great against EWU -- since CP's offense is not really geared to coming from behind.

So MVSU over Ark-PB, 41-7, might be the big surprise.
