Wasn’t going to do this until I realized the setup is made to order … with eight games going on. (Of course one includes MSU, but we’ll make an exception this time.)

Not sure what the deal is with Northern Iowa getting a home game … worse W-L record and UNI received way less than half the points that Lamar got in the season-ending STATS poll. In fact, Lamar was #26. Is that MVFC bias or just $$$? Anyway, I made Lamar the favorite.

Three guesses allowed, can change them if you want.

FWIW: Do not assume that Nicholls will be a slam-dunk against San Diego. We've seen Nicholls play a couple of times and they look damn good. But SD can score points like you wouldn't believe, so they might have a chance in a big shoot-out.

I had to take Delaware and I'm going to wait until the morning to decide on the ETSU and Jax State. As much as I like Jax State, the OVC always folds in the playoffs. They haven't been relevant since the old Eastern Kentucky dominance. Leaning toward ETSU right now simply because of the Fulmer blueprint on restablishing that program.

Pretty accurate assessment of the Ohio Valley in the playoffs. However, just a week ago, this Jacksonville State team took Kennesaw State into five overtimes before losing on an interception. That makes it a bit harder to pick against them.

I know! Have a son who played for Bohannon at a different school and I finished a graduate program at Jacksonville State so we had a father-son wager riding on that game...but still, the OVC has pretty much faded into that realm of insignificance when the playoffs start. That Jax State campus is beautiful. Guess I'll keep an eye on the UGA-Tech game today just to see that option football one more time.

In case you missed it: The Zombie Panthers of Northern Iowa are sill hanging around, having been awarded a home game so they could squeak out a win, 16-13 (Barn-burner!) over Lamar.
