Nevada may be favored, but their mascot wouldn't stand a chance. Monte will steal the show.

Alphie will chew 'em up, and spit 'em out.

(Actually, Alphie got shown up pretty good by Big Blue Sat. night. And after watching his butt-drag routine, some of us are afraid Alphie may have worms...you may want to tell Monte to be careful around him.)

If you can smell Monte, you already have worms.

I'm not worried about the RPI, after we beat Nevada ours will improve dramatically. We use to beat them up when they were in the Big Sky and they tried to get away from us by running to another conference, well they couldn't hide for long!

All I know is I remember in 92 against FSU when Delvon Anderson had the steal and slam and we were on the verge of upsetting the Seminoles. It was possible then and it sure as hell is possible now.

During Big Sky days, Montana held a 16-13 edge. Gosh, this brings back some great memories!

Got me. The 21-16 record comes from the Wolf Pack media guide, and that jibes with the games they list. I can't vouch for its accuracy.

Washington is too athletic for ol Stew Morill's team. Not only should UTAH St. not even be in the tournament but Brandon Roy (pac-10 player of the year) will blow them out by at least 20. Washington, despite losing their three great seniors last year, will beat Utah St up.
:lame:

The WAC hasn't lost an NCAA tourney game by 20 points since the MWC teams split (a 20-game stretch that includes 8 games against teams seeded #4 or higher). Over that six-year span, WAC teams have won 9 tourney games, including two wins over #2 seeds.

I love Utah State's chances against the Puppies.

Utah St shouldnt even be in the tournament :werd:

They have two players and after that then all I see is dust on the bench. UW will control the whole game and if they dont win by twenty they will certainly win handly. I am winning to put money on this game if you would like. Im not going to give you 20 points but maybe some sort of point spread can be worked out.

Brandon Roy is the pac-10 player of the year for a season. One of the best players in the country and I dont see anybody matching up with him from Utah St. UW should of won the Pac-10 but Oregon played like Uconn the second half of that game. And dont say that Utah St. almost won the WAC because Pac-10 is a little better than the WAC.

I guess the only one that matters is this Thursday. I hope we stay on the floor with you guys.

Hey just wanted to say good luck to you guys and congrats on the great seeding (for the BSC). A number 12 is just great and I know you guys will represent the rest of the Big Sky well.

Good luck! Go Griz!

Thanks Ranger! Come on down and we will make you an Honorary Griz for the Tourney!! :thumb:

Wolfpack fans...we aren't overlooking you, but put yourselves in our situation. Just based on the historical reputation of the programs, and the conferences they play in, if you were the Griz out of all these #5 and #6 seeds which team would you think you had the best chance against? No offense, but Nevada seems like the obvious choice, I think that's why a lot of fans are excited, because it just has the feel of a winnable game. I would probably chalk a lot of it up to lack of national exposure, and not playing in a power conference.

#5 Seeds

Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Washington
Nevada

#6 Seeds

Michigan State
Indiana
Oklahoma
West Virginia

First of all, it was an obvious shock to everyone we were given a 12 seed, and based on the list of possible teams above, even if we were an 11 seed, I think I would still pick Nevada as the most favorable opponent. I may be wrong and we might lose, maybe even get blown out, but something tells me you guys are in for a war.

It will all come down to team balance and shooting-if the Griz
push the ball and shoot well they can win.

Okay, I found where the difference comes from. Both teams claim a 75-73 win in the second meeting of 1982-83. A win in that game would give Montana a 10-4 conference record, but the Big Sky media guide shows their record that year to be 9-5. Nevada's 10-4 record checks out, so it appears the Montana guide is in error on that one.

The Montana guide also has a tabulation error, because the yearly results they list agree with Nevada's, with exception of the disputed 1982-83 game.

Unless there is evidence to dispute the above, the overall head-to-head record is in fact 21-16.

There are a couple of differences in reported scores.
1) In opponent records, Nevada lists the score of one of the 1980-81 games as 60-56. However, in their yearly results, they show a score of 60-58, which agrees with Montana's list.
2) For one of the 1979-80 games, Nevada shows a 59-53 win. Montana shows that game to be a 79-53 Nevada win.

I actually gave up sports betting when I found it detracted from the entertainment. But I'll tell you what...I'll bet you 9 eGriz bucks (notice that's all I have) that Utah St does better against UW than Montana does against Nevada.

He mentions that you're 7 of 8 coming into the game and he counts your loss to a decent team by 4 points as a sign of how good you are. Montana is one heck of a tough place to play yet you lost and he counts that a positive. He also doesn't mention that the loss during your win streak was to the #196 RPI Portland State. Ooh. Scary team that Portland State.

You are 7 of 8 but the best team you beat during that run has an RPI of 118. Nevada is 14-0 coming in with 10 wins vs Top 100 rpi during the streak. Montana's best road win all year is against the #118 rpi team while Nevada has 6 road victories vs the top 100rpi. Some of you seem to think winning at home against a Stanford team that lost to Cal-Davis is as good a win as going into the Phog and beating Kansas early in the season. It ain't. Early or not.

I'm not trying to say you aren't dangerous, but face the facts. If I had to pick a 12-5 victor (and there is one almost every year) you aren't a bad choice, but this writer is just hoping to get lucky. On paper and on the court you don't match up.

Hey Wolf, do you take this much bashing (the respect you give us) in Husky territory since your a second rate team to UW??? Come back after the upset. By the way, those who quote RPI's like the Bible tend to wear Coke bottle glasses. . . NNNNNEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDD!

Please come back and wax about how great you are and how much of a dweeb I am. Since you're in Seattle let me quote someone you might know.

BJ Shea once said, "A guy like wolf tends to be the one wearing a trench coat outside your child's elementary school waiting for the bell to ring."

I like you wolf. I really do. Come back and inject more of your titillating RPI knowledge on us.

If it all comes down to the rpi's. what are we playing for?. We should just crown the national champion and quit wasting time with all this nonsense of a tournament. :dope:

Ill take that bet all day!!!

UW gonna walk all over Stew!!!

Go Griz

Just what victory do you hang your hat on? Northern Arizona? Oral Roberts? You haven't played anyone all year that is as tough as Utah State and you've only played one team as tough as LTU and Akron and you lost home.

Utah State beat Oral Roberts in overtime 72-67, and later 65-64 in Logan..... But yea your right, Utah State is leaps and bounds above them. Genius...... :moon:

And they only beat our own Weber State of the Big Sky 69-60....

But your right, I'm sure they are striking fear in everyone.

Somebody owes me 9 egriz bucks....

Look above!!!

Hopefully he comes back to this board so I can get them.
