Upset and disappointed at GRIZ Football

Why wasn't there any public information of 2 summer scrimmages the last few weeks?

Riley Corcoran just Tweeted, the 2nd of 2 scrimmages were played today, August 24. I honestly would've made it a point to attend each and changed plans for them. I was off work when each occurred.

GRIZ NATION bleeds GRIZ blood. We support this team every year. Ticket sales are almost at an all time high. Yet, those who support this team aren't even given the common consideration of being invited to any scrimmage!

This really upsets and disappoints this fan.
Why would they do this to the fans?

Scrimmages are closed this season, apparently.

Fall scrimmages are usually closed because it’s deciding whose gonna be our starters to much info gets leaked out starters/injuries/ect.

This is a normal practice that Bobby usually does. Likes to keep things close to his chest.
Would love to see stuff but I get it too.

Spring scrimmages are open, Fall scrimmages are not. It has always been this way under Bobby and many other coaches.

That makes sense. I think I confused spring and fall norms there.

According to the camp schedule, not any practices are "closed". Personally, every summer, I have always just parked and walked right into practice. I've watched from the ends and sides. Not 1 time has anyone said anything to me. If the days of their scrimmages are closed, then the camp schedule should reflect it.

Here is the schedule directly from Gogriz.com. Sorry homie but this week was listed as closed from the jump

The "scrimmage" was great. Obviously, full pads. Full tackling, but not against QB's. Refs, but they didn't use their whistles. Started with special teams going pretty much full speed. The teams went against various other teams, not ones v. ones. Mostly situationally. Very fast-moving. I assume everyone healthy participated. Nothing was really "closed", although I don't think the media was invited this week. More fans than the day before, when there weren't many. Practice over in 70 minutes.

Johnson is really a good runner. Threw well, or at least fine, but at least one pick. All qb's played. Huot has some talent. Receivers caught the ball fairly or very well. I didn't notice any fumbles, but was blocked from some plays. Some frosh d-backs had picks.

Later on, Dantic must have had 5 good runs, including one for about 40 or more. He's got decent speed. Wasn't playing against the first team D, and probably not the second team D either.

The D looked better than the O. The team looked good. The o-line didn't seem to be overwhelmed at all. The coaches were largely instructive and supportive, and not yelling. It was fun.

Closed practices? Must not want to be espied upon? Well, that's Von Neumann's 'Game Theory' for ya. You try to outsmart someone, you end up outsmarting yourself. Something about a 'circular line of reasoning' being counter-productive, as such, or something like that.

Wasn't that like when Youngstown State came to Missoula for a playoff game a while back and mucked up the kicker at the end of the game. Everyone in the stands and the Griz coaching staff seemingly 'expected' YSU to call a third time out. They had three to begin with at the time, if I remember correctly. The Griz panic, instead of taking a mere five yard penalty for delay of game they forced a kick on the muddiest spot on the field and the kicker slipped and fell down. Youngstown State wins the game by merely not taking a third time out. Letting the opponent make their own mistakes and subsequently waltzing away with the win.

I believe we have a public scrimmage on 3 September? This is open to all who have a ticket and should be exciting for a while...come out and enjoy the fun!

Sounds like there were several fans at the scrimmage.

Thank you very much!
