We probably had to threaten to buy CPSLO out unless they moved it.

My guess is they offered more money to move it...

That is also my guess. Work's out better for both teams and Cal Poly put a little more money in the bank. Sounds like a win, win to me.

Cal Poly's 2015 Schedule:

Sept. 5 @ Montana (non conference)
Sept. 12 @ Arizona State
Sept. 19 Northern Iowa
Sept. 26 @ Montana State
Oct. 3 Idaho State
Oct. 10 @ Eastern Washington
Oct. 17 Bye
Oct. 24 Portland State
Oct. 31 @ Southern Utah
Nov. 7 Sacramento State
Nov. 14. @ UC Davis
Nov. 21 North Dakota

If you did I am sure Cal Poly would have taken the money. They could of used it to pay to bring in a 6th home game against a much easier team than the Griz.
We weren't easy enough for you this year?

Huge difference in playing Montana in SLO and playing them in Missoula. The Griz are tough either place, but definitely tougher in Washington/Griz Stadium. It is one of the toughest places to play in the FCS.

I am assuming that it is a misprint on the date of the Cal Poly game. Sept. 6th is a Sunday. I am sure it is on September 5th, a Saturday.

That is a real tough schedule there.....

:-o

I'll bet a division 2 school gets slapped in to that Sept 12 spot. Would prefer if we could add in an FCS mid-major instead, like a Pioneer Conference team.

I don't think we're allowed to play 12 games next year...

Oh yeah? Didn't know that.

That's what I was gonna say. I don't think we get 12 games in 2015.

If the first part is accurate, this may have been some savvy negotiating by Haslam. Cal Poly probably wanted to play the game on September 6 anyway, but they wanted to squeeze some money out of UM to get it moved, even though it was what both parties wanted. Haslam may have responded by insisting on a night game on October 17. Cal Poly, not wanting to have to fly out of Montana in the middle of the night, especially given the off chance of being grounded in Missoula until Sunday, finally concedes and the two sides mutually agree to play Labor Day weekend with no additional money changing hands. Could have happened. Why else would there be a tentative night game in the middle of October? Any night game that's not early in the season or Griz/Cat or a playoff game would be certain to have a lower attendance.
