One game left in the regular season and we're still getting called for Excessive Celebration or Taunting. Outrageous lack of discipline and I put it all on the coaches. No consequences for any players! They need to see videos of Barry Sanders as he always handed the ball to the official and headed to the bench. I'm sick and tired of this "it's all about me" attitude. It cost us today twice giving PSU excellent field position on the kickoff.

I would suggest that there are consequences.
Just now - Tarleton State versus ACU and Tarleton does this big huge dance celebration in the end zone involving several players and NO flag. Excessive celebration penalties are especially stupid when they are not called most of the time.

Hauck definitely “talked” to Fife after the play.
I was told Fife tried to toss ball in stands or something like that. I didn’t see it.
The other one was probably just a technical violation. After his dance at back of endzone to crowd, he turned to his left and “fired” his finger like a gun briefly. Wasn’t much. Pointing must not be allowed.

My guess is the ref thought he was doing the finger gun/point thing directly at the PSU player - which you aren’t allowed to do.
He did the finger gun thing at the end of his celebration directly at the cameraman in the endzone. Remember the punter from Morehead doing the machine gun to the whole stadium without a flag from these officials. Good times.

In any event, no Griz should do anything like those things if they could cause a penalty. Just plain stupid. Particularly in important games.
Fontes’ celebration I didn’t think warranted a penalty. That was a bit of an overreaction by the ref. I didn’t see Fife’s but according to Rainey, he tossed the ball in the air. That one was justified.
Were there any other unsportsmanlikes today? We had the targeting which I thought was bullshit, but was there anything else? I don’t really remember.

Kicking off from 20 makes it very hard on the defense and the CATS would destroy us with that field position.
Yeah it's a silly rule, but it IS a rule.
But as has been pointed out, the discrepancy in the calls is astounding. That said, it's the bsc (#bsc) and the team has to expect shitty officiating.
Didn’t Fontes simply do the “spider man” web shooting like him and the other receivers do? That was a dumb call by refs if so. If it was the gun shooter then that is different I guess.
I'm afraid I've become a bit of an old "get off my lawn" type of guy. As such, I'm tired of all the dances, choreographed hand shakes, seatbelt lock-down gestures, etc....at all levels of football. I'm all for getting fired up after a big play but Jesus...just play football! Wanna dance? Do it at the club afterwards with some hottie.

I agree and I don't think it excuses our absolutely stupid penalties, but I was a bit surprised watching Davis celebrate their first touchdown. Maybe it's just finger guns but, if it's "excessive celebration" the conference needs to get consistent. I only saw Davis first TD and Cats first TD, so I don't know how it looked after. At any rate, Griz really need to clean it up

Yes. He was pointing to the south end zone crowd for most of it. The ref was standing right there. And then at the end, for a couple seconds, he turned to his left and continued doing it. I don't recall seeing anyone to his left, but the camera view was narrow. The flag didn't come out until the turn or shortly thereafter.

Oh, absolutely. I just think, don't give the refs a reason to even think about throwing a flag on you. But like you said, that train is bye-bye. It's a "look at me" type of world now.
