Have not seen anything firm, but the latest projections have UNLV going to the "Famous Idaho Potato Bowl" in Boise, with Buffalo as the possible opponent.Maxim said:Congrats to Bobby and UNLV for getting selected for a bowl game. I'm not sure which bowl it is but they did accept the invite they received.
bigsky33 said:I think I read somewhere that they didn't beat a team with a winning record. So, they go to a meaningless bowl that no one in LV cares about. Whoopee!

Uh-Oh.... Someone is still a little butt-hurt...
UNLV needs to beat San Diego State at home this weekend to help their own chances of getting a bowl game in case Fresno State does not receive a BCS bowl bid.UNLV's bowl hopes depend on its final game, Fresno State's fate
Because if 15th-ranked Fresno State (9-0) wins out and makes a Bowl Championship Series game, that opens an extra Mountain West bowl slot, an extra opportunity for UNLV to find a spot in the postseason.
The Rebels became bowl eligible with a 41-21 victory at Air Force on Thursday night, but that doesn’t guarantee a postseason appearance for the first time since 2000.
Spliff-meister, you missed the real point, which is: Where are the Bobcats playing this weekend?grizcountry420 said:grizpack said:bigsky33 said:I think I read somewhere that they didn't beat a team with a winning record. So, they go to a meaningless bowl that no one in LV cares about. Whoopee!

I'd have to agree with bigsky33.. By the beginning of next season nobody will know what bowl game UNLV participated in. Like he said.... Whoopee!

And yet it will likely still have better ratings than any FCS playoff game including the NC game.
Only time FCS playoff games get "bowl like" TV ratings is when it's the Griz vs App State.
No reason to shit on the accomplishment of Hauck and UNLV this year because you hate the bowl system. It's the first time in a long time UNLV has made it to a bowl and that's got to be pretty damn exciting for the fans and the players.
