University of Montana VS. Eastern Washington 7:05

:o :o Give credit to Eastern they did battle on defense. Everbody for Montana contributed defensively in the first half. 6-13 at the line in the first half made it diffucult. Eastern forced Kamarr Davis out about 4 feet early as he tried hard to get it going but did not get any calls. Criswell set him up for an easy bucket late . Dlouhys 15 points in 9 minutes at the beginning of the second half were mostly wild and crazy but Montana still trailed 51-50. Eastern hit 5 threes during this period from the same spot. Winning game 55-53 looks a lot better than it may have appeared at the time with Montana trailing much of the game. Montana got up once at 38-32 and then three plays later it was Eastern 39-38. Be there Saturday for something not as Ugly. :o :o

Wow, not one mention of the clutch freethrow shooting of John Seyfert. Made 3 clutch freethrows in a row near the end of the game that without them, Criswell wouldn't have scored the winning shot in the end. I consider the real game winning points came not from Criswell but from John. Freethrows from a guy that has had the toughest time at the freethrow line averaging about 50% from the line, makes 2 freethrows to gain a 2 point lead near the end of the game, that was clutch. Hitting those shots in the clutch like he did was something I never previously expected from him. Great job, John Seyfert.

:o :o I did not want to name names but the I did say that the Griz made 6 out of 13 free throws 46% in the first half which made the game very interesting. Most of the Griz shoot about 72 % from the line. John shoots in the low 60s % but he is much better late in the game when he concentrates. He was 3-6 Thursday. 50% But most of the time he is not needed late and one of the 72% ers is in the game. Griz made 28-32 free throws 87% in Cheney but only 18 of 32 in this game. 56% Side note Portland State at times does not shoot that well from the line. (5-14 in o/t thurs 35%) :o :o

Those second two FT's were big. But he could have hit his first attempt of 4 in a row that would have made Criswell's shot unnecessary.

There are a lot of guys who deserve credit for this W. John's big FT's, Farr's rebounds, Criswell's steal/layup and game-winner, but probably most important is Dlouhy's offense. If he doesn't have the type of game he did, the Griz aren't even in this one at the end.
