University of Incarnate Word - Cardinals

Both the Griz and Cardinals have a 9 - 2 record this year. Both have wins over a FBS team. Cardinals beat Texas State earlier this year. They hold the top spot in the Southland conference. The team is located in San Antonio, TX.

I hope it's possible for a matchup in this year's playoffs.

I would also like a home and home game against them in the future (if possible). Logistically, it makes sense. It would also increase our recruiting area. Texas has a good pool of football talent.

Any comments?

Went to a game at UIW a few years ago...they were terrible at the time.

Their stadium is very, very bad. The HS stadiums in SA are much better. But, if the Griz did play them in SA - Griz Nation should attend as SA is great to visit. The River Walk could be a sea of Maroon.

Don't have any idea about their current facilities. But they've come a long way on the field. We've seen them play several times this year ... and that is a damn good football team.

Yes, I think they hired a guy off the Texas Tech staff... they are certainly better than they used to be.

Besides, they have the weirdest name in all of college football.
It's a Catholic thing, they'll have it until they lose their next court case. Dixie State in Utah might be a stranger name, but they're changing it. (Came about because Brigham Young realized they couldn't be self sufficient in cotton in the Salt Lake City area)

I wonder if their color commentator uses creative religious superlatives.... blessed, smite, excommunicated, inquisition etc. to explain the action of each play.

I bet the kid that does play by play for Western Illinois would happily use some of these superlatives.

Western Illinois needs to keep him on for next season. He gets an A for effort. And Riley needs to hold a “playbyplay” camp and invite that kid. Maybe give the young fella some pointers. For instance, remember to take a breath every now and then. lol.
