I dunno...krammer said:with our current scholarship challenge, wouldn't one expect to lose more Montana kids and work on the best of the best in the state..ie bingham, ryan,.....quality over quantity.....seems like it is only the reasonable common sense thing to do....spend your scholarship dollars on the best bets the state has to offer, otherwise recruit better the out of state kid....
From the sounds of it, the out of state kids are worthless unless there are some hard-workin', boot-strappin', good ol' Montana boys to show 'em how to properly work hard and practice.
I know this is hyperbole, and I realize the value of having the best Montana kids on the roster that we can get, but we seem to have been "losing the in-state recruiting wars" to the Cats for "years" now, and it hasn't really amounted to much of anything for them. We have a much better track record with walk-ons and under-the-radar Montana kids, anyways. Whatever we've been doing while simultaneously "losing the in-state recruiting battle" to the cats seems to be working out just fine. :|
Honest question: When was the last time we had a "blue-chip" Montana recruit that we stole from the Cats that ended up being a grand slam? I seem to remember all of our recent NFL and Griz great MT boys being guys we weren't super high on in the beginning.
