Uniforms

I work spitting distance from Nike World Headquarters here in Bearverton, Oregon, and earlier this year a fourth named Scott was added to our threesome. This guy made us look like kindergarderners swinging sticks. He could CRUSH the ball and played a whole different game. You could tell he was a real athlete. As the morning wore on, I struck up a conversation and discovered it was Scott Zanon, the three sport Griz letterman of the Kalispell Zanon's. It turns out he is well placed in High School Football marketing at Nike and was instrumental in the Griz getting a "premium package deal" from Nike (actually more than a school of its stature really deserves he said). His other brother Craig also works there and in fact all of the Zanon's now live in Oregon -- but once a Montanan, always a Montanan. You can think Scott Zanon for the sweet deal the Griz get!

BTW - As for his golf game, he said he had thought about going pro at one time and I can tell you I think he could have made it. His game wasn't extremely sharp yet I think he broke par at a very tough course. Oh yeah, nice guy too.

Methinks Eric Sprunk might be a bigger reason, being VP of products and merchandise.

We won't, but I'd love to see some new jerseys for next year modeled after Oregon's this year, only more Griz-centric. We might just get an updated pro combat, instead.

Nike is also tied in very well with the business school - makes quite a few hires from the SOBA's graduating classes almost yearly I believe, but yeah Sprunk is the main player I'd think.

Oh and more Oregon jersey love:

Anyone have any clues as to what we can expect in two weeks?

I was thinking I would like to see something like the Arizona copper helmets.

Of course the over used trend is black uniforms. So then you match the copper helmet with copper numbers... wait...never mind.

I went to a conference in Seattle and one of the Talent Development Directors was from Montana as well. NIKE is chock full of Montana grads.

i have a pretty strong feelin you will Something different with the Griz unis/helmets on Nov. 17...Something like that would be in place a long time ago, as in the summer, and they wouldn't shelve something they already paid for just because the Griz are 4-5 or because they are being investigated by the NCAA..i have no idea, it could just be another decal change, but there will be something new for Griz/Cat.

It was shown on the Eugene news that the Ducks will roll out a new helmet at USC today. They called the helmet white storm. Sort of a mat white with the chrome wing on it. Face mask was white with chrome. Ok looking compared to others they have. Word was they also roll out another uniform for his game as well!!!
The helmets I guess are done by a Newberg OR company. They showed the place and tons of helmets he had done up there. Many college helmets on wall. Looked like a cool place to spend the afternoon looking at helmets.

I'm over the uniform sh*t... It was cool for a while, but as I watch Alabama march out on the field and assault people...I see the focus is still... and always will be blocking and tackling. I'd hate to have my team drop a pass because the opponents monochromatic helmet thew a titanic glare into the eye. It looks like U of O may get their chance against old school... I say the Ducks get a webbed foot shoved up their a$$.
