Brian Kelly was never a serious applicant. He withdrew his name before the interview process even began and never so much as stepped foot on UM's campus. That's a well-known fact. He got the raise he was looking for at Grand Valley State. If you're suggesting the Griz could have had him as a head coach over Bobby Hauck, but the powers that be didn't think he was a known commodity at the time, you're way off base. EVERYONE involved in the hiring process after Glenn's departure KNEW exactly who Brian Kelly was. I don't think Chris Peterson ever seriously considered UM either. However, at Robin Pflugrad was a finalist for that job.

Hav, this isn't correct. Kelly was a candidate. He interviewed for the job. Hogan flew to meet him. I think they met in an airport, is what Hogan once told me. Kelly used the UM opening to get his raise/extension with GVSU. See linked Missoulian article, which says the interview was in Michigan and that Guffey was with Hogan. I'm not sure that the interview was in Michigan, but it was not in Missoula. Look at the timing. Note that the article says Hauck was interviewed in Seattle (so he didn't set foot on the campus either).

I'm pretty sure Sean Embree is Jon Embree's (former CU coach) son. He played tight end for UCLA.
