MBBALL UNC Game Thread

I don’t like the slow down offense anymore than most of you. It can be argued both ways but its purpose is to limit the number of possessions for the opposition while running our sets at the 10/12 second mark. It’s a difficult concept to teach and even harder to perfect.

Went to the noco fan board to get their thoughts and...

wtf am I thinking?? There have been five posts -- FIVE-- since January 2024.

what are we doing in this conference again??
How does that differ from every other team in the conference not named MSU? Their singular fans come HERE to post because there's been...well....FIVE posts since January 2024.

Be nice to get a little help from the neighbors on Saturday with a win over noco.

Oh, please forgive me. I was imagining a world in which the bubs didn’t suck….
The kitties will get beat by 20 unfortunately. I too fall into the trap of assuming they'll escape their fateful kitty cat loser syndrome. Like clockwork, they faithfully show their colors. Sad.

Griz were up 21 when I tuned in. So all those good things that had happened suddenly didn't. Missed a few big FTs some crazy TOs. Gave up some easy hoops. Waited too far into shot clock.

Johnson seemed the guy that took the moment and finished.

Re: Last 10 minutes: UNC went off from 3 in the second half and you could sort of expect that to come eventually. In fact they were absurdly hot and they will hitting deep threes in and out of the flow of the offense. Denker hit three or four absurdly deep 3's.

My complaint with the construction of the offense late, isn't the running of the clock. Travis doesn't want to have cheap possessions and quick shots. I completely agree with that piece of game management. The issue in their desire to scrub clock and spread the floor, is the off ball guys are waiting until the ballhandlers start their down hill moves and it just doesn't create clean off ball looks. I prefer spread floor with more passing and cutting. Love the 4 out with a high post, cut and replace. Just like that look more than the iso looks. To each their own obviously.

Its never pretty, but they were pretty good when mattered last night and the result was a big road win. Haven't had those a lot over the last couple of years. Need to gut out a victory in flagstaff on Saturday. Gonna be a tough game at altitude.

Great post as always, 24.

Question: Would you rather play the nau game at altitude on Thursday and then go to unc or vise versa? Which is easier on the guys' legs?
