8-16 from the free throw line...Jeez, I'll take my 12 year old daughter over she can show them how to shoot them...That's just plain terrible!

That depends on if she stays out of the key... :tounge:

Sounds like we just can't make a shot...

Bad from behind the arc, bad from the free throw line, bad from everywhere else...

damn...losing Hasquet hurt...but poor shooting and rebounds killing any mo....can we make a 3?...Martin?,,whew reserving a place on the pine...just doesn't have it...game seemed to change after technical?,,,Lee is tough...11 rebounds plus booooku pts

Well, we played a damn good first half. and the shoting from Martin, Dlouhy, Hasquet killed us. WKU is the real deqal though, they won a game in the big dance last year too, and have some good athletes. That team is better than most we have played so far. Lee is a NBA prospect.

Good game Griz.

It was closer than the final score will indicate.

Just to clarify we did not make the NCAAs last year, we were blown out by eventual NIT champion South Carolina.

At any rate I hope that you guys win all of your games after this one and win the Big Sky!

We got our butts whooped the last 10 minutes.

That being said, and i never say this, i was not happy with the reffing nor the players on WKU. All game long WKU was acting there asses off as well as pushing and shooving on dead balls, just play, they don't need to do that. On the refs side, good grief.

time shows us what we couldn't see at the time, and time will show us that west virginia, virginia tech and western kentucky are all very good, tournament-caliber teams. we've beaten boise state and minnesota, and played wyoming tough on their home court. rundles is developing quickly, and staudacher, sharp and swift will all get better as the season progresses.

this is not the start we all had hoped for when visions of orlando glory cavorted in our heads, but it may not be as bad as our win-loss record shows. these games are toughening us for the conference.

City,

I agree with you 100%. The days when the coaches scheduled cupcakes to pad their resume didn't prepare the team for BSC play. Take a look at the schedule former Idaho Coach larry Eustachy has this pre season if you want a good laugh.

All we had was radio here so I couldn't see any of the calls. But I will say this in response. I used to get so mad at the refs, especially when I saw games live. Then I actually watched some replays on TV (after seeing the same game live) and I was astonished that by and large (with the rare exception) that the refs get the calls right and that they generally don't try to "screw" one team or another.

Like I said, you could be right. Maybe these (Big Sky) referees were just incompetent or biased or whatever. But every home team in every town in every conference thinks that the refs screw them.

Just an observation.

I just got back from the game. The 2nd half was pretty sad. A couple of things stand out to me. First, and most critical, we are getting zero offense from the 2 guard position (except when Rundles played some tonight). This has essentially been the case all season and it is killing the GRIZ. Tonight, Dlouhy did not shoot particularly well so the offensive contribution of our wings was very low. Martin really is playing pretty well floor game wise but his shot is flat out gone. Unless the outside productivity changes significantly, teams are going to beat Strait to death underneath. They do not really have to worry much about our outside shooting so they sag all over Strait. Also, Andrew played 38 minutes tonight and all of the 2nd half. His effectiveness once he gets worn down is really diminished. Our interior defense tonight was really porous. WKU got a ton of layups and really climbed back in the game by scoring at will inside late in the 1st half and on into the 2nd half . I'd like to see Wayne trust his other post players a little more and get Andrew a little more rest.

Well, I mean I ussually don't complain about it. I want you to understand that you beat us fair and square tonight, whooped us at the end especially, but i was just extremely disapointed with them throughout the game. I don't think it had too great of effect on the result, but it angers me none the less.

:thumb: great post, I agree 100%.

Sitting there in Adams with a 37-37 halftime score, I was certain WKU would wind up taking it. They had better athletes who ran excellent set plays and their defense really cranked it up, particularly in the second half. They penetrated well and shot lights out. The Griz, frankly, looked disorganized on both ends of the floor.

And Wayne should bring in Morales to show these guys, particularly Strait, how to shoot free throws. Like golf, if you're going to miss, be long miss, not short. My oh my, 8 of 14 and many the front end of 1 and 1! This team sadly misses the leadership of Criswell and Matthews... And maybe K as well.

Can anyone help me understand what might have happened here? Both of these guys were in a position to have breakout years. City Griz, I think you saw them both play in California and have been a great supporter of them both. Any info? I feel as badly for them as I do for our team. We need them. They know the program and went to the dance last year----what"s happened?

Coaches concern me. They should have played zone against WKU.
Back to caoching 101-when a team is quicker or you don't
match up you play an agressive zone. Also we should have played
Chavez more. It is discouraging-pray that the coaches learn how
to adapt soon.
