UM vs. SAC

10 of 18 from the line??? When you turn it over 25 times, that ain't gonna get it done on the road. Wait. Missed another. 10 of 19.

funny how events of similar consequence seem to coincide. Ellis misses the front end, IM pops up. GF: "I'm leaving in the morning. night." Well, goodnight everyone, i have to go bail out of this. thanks griz for making this all worthwhile. really. thanks. i almost hate this team. they have the talent. they've shown it in the past few minutes and yet they get down and can't get back. i hate it. they turn the ball over and miss foul shots. it's ridiculous. night everyone.

Good luck to you, AHITDD.

That sounds bad :beer2:

I'm not listening to the radio and montanagrizzlies.com hasn't updated the score since 73-69. Is it over yet?

I guess the big question is, would this team continue to disappoint and underplay if Larry K was still the coach?

Starting to sound like a broken record: We lose at the free throw line AGAIN!!! How in the heck do you only shoot 60% at the line??? How about we spend the next 9 days shooting free throws...

How about that, 3 pt shooting, and perimeter defense. Experiment with Vanderjagt defending the paint with perimeter pressure.

We have no consistency from the 1,2 and 3 positions. Add to that routinely ineffective perimeter defense and it spells trouble. I am really suprised by the lack of production from our other post players. It seems that Wayne is increasingly reluctant to sub for Strait at all. This may hurt Strait's effectiveness later in the season. I did not see this game but I wonder if it isn't time to start Swift at the 2 in order to get a little better perimeter defense. We've got lots of problems right now. :twocents:

Got to hand it Tinks, he stays calm and NEVER talks down about his players. Dean Smith philosophy, What can be done to get us out of the gates quicker? Press?

Tinks just said, this is the last time we have multiple guys not ready to go!!! He apparently knows that is a problem is too.

the big sky scores thus far indicate how anemic the whole league is this season, our loss hurts but given the team records at this point anyone has a shot to play in the tourney....

downside is the league rpi, come March would it be possible the BSC team could be the first team in NCAA history to get a 17 seed!

cmon guys lets get it together.....go griz

Does anyone else feel like hasquet could do better than 13 and 5? I kind of feel like he should be in the 18 and 6 or 7 range. There's time, but he's shown flashes and i think he could be there this year.

He's impressive, and if both he and Strait get going you guys could be unstoppable.

I would like to see them build AT LEAST SOME offense around Hasquet. Maybe clear out for him every once in awhile. He usually has a big guy on him that he can beat on the dribble (not that he's that swift, but usually more swift than the giraffe guarding him) but I swear everytime he drives to the hoop he runs into one of his own guys before he sees a defender.

He's a great passer and I think good things would happen if he had some room to take his guy on the dribble - when defenders come to help with him, he most always find the open man. It would more than likely result in a few more bunnies for Strait.

It would put a little heat on the defense for a change and maybe we could get actually get an opposing team's key player in foul trouble. :twocents:

Sac State almost gave this game away tonight... I know you're all hurtin' but here's a couple observations I took away from this game...

1. This is not the Grizzly team I saw last year. The BIGGEST thing i noticed was a lack of discipline in pregame. There were players goofing off and half-assing their warm ups (something I didn't see as much of with Larry K). When they did lay up lines, half the guys threw lobs, others threw up crazy "non-game" shots. It just looked weird...

2. Does Mr. Tinkle know that he's the head coach? I haven't seen a HC sit down for that much of a game in a while...

3. Does Strait ever have a bad game? He was a beast on the boards and got a ton of put backs.

4. Matt Martin just pisses me off. Start Ellis over his whiny ass...

5. Lots of Montana fans at the game, good to see. Anyone go?

6. Dlouhy needs to get his act together and the poster who mentioned that Hasquet should be an 18 and 7 guy is right. He has tremendous potential.

7. Lastly, you guys could have won this game. I think UM will still be in the top 2 or 3 at worst when Conference play is over.

Personally, I hate this vanderjagt idea. he's tall. that's pretty much it.

The Dean Smith philosophy involved winning. It's not that we're really slow out of the gates. In the first 3-5 minutes the griz are always up or even. Most times they've built a 5+ point lead. It's those next 20, yes friggin 20 minutes, that really kill us. These teams make runs going into the half. We'll claw back a little right before half. Then we fade at the beginning of the second. Then we decide we'll try and have to figure out every game that you can't just flip a switch and beat a team.
