UM vs. ND State Predictions

I just have an odd gut feeling on this one. I would be jacked to see NDSU come in to WaGriz and get there hats handed to them. I just sort of worry about the new system and all.

I did have this same feeling when App State came to town. That turned out good!!

I hope it is but this might just not be our game. I hope I like many am proved wrong.

I I surely will be on ESPN watching. Those of you there make some noise!!!

Go Griz

When the Griz ultimately win this game, you'll magically be able to find 75,000 people who will claim "they were there"!

Please don't take my 24-7 NDSU win prediction that seriously. I really don't have a clue how this game will turn out. I like Stitt. He will do good things at UM eventually. He may be the X factor here. Who knows? He definitely is an upgrade over Delaney IMO. But to ask him to lead a UM team to victory over the four time champions, after really four weeks of practice, seems like a tall order to me. Remember, the Griz still have the Griz OL. Plus, I don't think a loss to NDSU, is in any way, devastating to the Griz season in 2015. The Bison have their MOD( Modus Operandi) which is to run the ball and control the clock. It's an easier early season offense to master. All those factors seem to point toward a Bison victory IMO. Maybe Gus will connect on a couple of 60 yard bombs for TDs that will shock NDSU? You never know......

Fair assessment!

Stitt's offense might be out of this world but it is brand new for the Griz and will not be running on all cylinders the first game of the year. But you could say that for the Bison also with their offense. But they are returning 9 starters.

I'm sure Stitt is going to attack the deep middle with both S being new starters. One corner will probably be out with injury but his back up is good. It will be an interesting chess match for sure.

The Bison need to control the clock to win the game.

The Griz need to start fast and keep the pressure on the Bison defense to win.

Neither team's season is over with a loss.

Two well thought out posts in a row! A welcome respite from the usual incoherent ramblings, name calling, mud-slinging, balderdash. Good job men.

But it won't stop the "glass-half-empty" crowd from coming on here and trumpeting "I told you so" if this new offense doesn't come out firing on all cylinders. I may have to self-impose a 10-day ban just to avoid all the headaches if that happens.

I'm sure Stitt is a smart coach. He will attack the middle of the Bison defense. The OLBs are both new starters and they do a lot of WR coverage in the Tampa 2 defense. They are very good and athletic but haven't played much.

Same thing on Bisonville if the Bison lose. All will be lost but that is far from the truth. Both teams can still win their conference and get a bye and multiple home games even if they lose.

This is just a great match up. The Bison have played numerous teams that have had some version of the spread. If this version that Stitt runs wants to have 80-90 plays, then the Bison defense better be ready to go with their conditioning and hopefully they can get subs in.

The Bison defense's best friend will be the offense and their ball control. If they can control the clock and get TDs then they will have a great shot at winning. The Griz defense needs short drives by the Bison.

If the Griz offense starts out on fire and marches up and down the field then the Bison are in big trouble. If they can limit the Griz to FGs instead of TDs then they will be OK.

I cannot wait to watch this one on TV. Great match up. 2 great FCS powers knocking heads to start the season.

Finally......a few posts worth reading. I agree with all that was said, and also think our defense will be far better then last year. And we are at home.

17-16 Griz

31-24 Griz.

It will be a good game with the Griz scoring with less than a minute left to seal the deal :thumb:

I'm passionate GRIZ fan. I think the new offense has the potential to score at least 4 touchdowns. Gus will get a bomb to someone, possibility Henderson. Griz good for at least 24 points. Kicking game is is a big ?
mark. Hopefully we can get three out of four pats. As for field goals, I'm looking for at least one. Stitt says he defense is as good as any one that we will see this year. Therefore, the Griz should be able to hold the Bison to one touchdown and field goals like the Griz did last year. Special teams will play well enough to get us through the game.

The optimist says,
GRIZ 30. Bison 22

For once I would have been happy to see the Griz play a DII team to start the season, but this isn't the perfect world. I expect the Griz to be a better team this year than last year, but aside from being at home everything is going against the Griz in this one. New (complicated) system, new QB, new HC going up against the 4 time NC is going to be a very tough task. I expect this game to be exciting and to show promise for a solid season, but this is probably the first time I have ever picked to Griz to lose at home. Hope Im wrong.

North Dakota State - 30

GRIZ - 21

My opinion is that the game is settled in the 1st Quarter. If our Offense comes out of the gate and has a few 3 & outs, (which will be really really quick 3 & outs) our Defense will be immediately placed on its heals and the tone might be set. No dropped balls by the WR's will be an absolute must. Every short catch matters.

Possibility A.) I see our offense struggling to get going. NDSU puts together a 14 pt lead. offense gets some big plays in the 2nd half, shows the fans what you can expect moving forward. Our Defense will make some plays, Secondary will get an INT. Wentz will end up being too much, hurting us with his feet & arm. Ground game wears us out. 31-17 NDSU

Possibility B.) Gus comes out firing. Move over Johnny Montana, Brady Big Sky begins his Legacy. Guy finds it quickly, hitting passes with accuracy. Opens the field up of John Nguyen in the screen game. Griz come out of the gate and put together a good couple of drives, 1 for a TD & 1 for a field goal. NDSU puts together some drives as well. NDSU has the lead 28-24 into the 4th quarter. Brady puts together one of the most famous drives in Montana history, Jamaal Jones catches a perfect pass over his right shoulder in the North Endzone and the cannon fires right into the face of NDSU's cornerback. Griz win 30-28 as time expires. Officials try to stop the student section from rushing the field but can't. Griz football has returned.
