UM vs. EWU Score Prediction - Playoff Version

2010 and 2012, EWU pulled a rabbit out of its hat and won the game. The Griz had both of those games in hand when somehow the Eags were able to come back in the final few minutes. With that said, the Griz take the game this time.
No doubt that this could be a classic game and the Eagles have to be favored. Most knowledgable Griz fans respect the heck out of the Eagles, and we are well aware that this is an uphill battle and we will likely need a couple of breaks to win it.
Vernon Adams is a stud and his offense presents all kinds of problems for the Griz defense. We have to both contain him (at least somewhat) and keep them from making big plays like they did last time.
That said, this sets up well for the Griz. Most people don't expect us to win and all the pressure is on Eastern, especially being at home. We are playing at our highest level this year and they have the benefit of the bye, but they could come out a bit rusty. The Griz are on a bit of a roll and they could go to Cheney and pull this one out. Eastern really doesn't want to play us right now even though that's not what they are saying!!
That said, I think EWU will win this game maybe something like 38-24. I will be there pulling for the Griz and I hope I am wrong. I do hope that whichever teams comes out on top they can go very deep into the playoffs. The Big Sky Conference needs it.

This game shapes up to be an instant classic with both teams relatively healthy and playing at a high level. It will be interesting to see if Eastern comes out flat at all with having 2 byes in 3 weeks. Even if they do, Eastern is more than capable of erasing an early lead.
What I saw the last time these two teams played was a Griz O that shot themselves in the foot and were restricted by play calling early on. That should change and I expect the Griz to score more points on Saturday. However, the key to this game will come down to the Griz D. This is the same team (no key players hurt, missing) that put some pressure on VA and held them to 29 offensive points, but still got burned often by the quick passing game and often times got lucky on overthrows / dropped balls. Will that be corrected and/or can the Griz offense keep up with Eastern's O, we will soon find out.
I am not as confident as other posters on this board, as my gut says Eastern will still pull this one out, but no way can I pick against the Griz in this one. Heres to hoping the stars align on Saturday.

Home field and a healthy Adams makes them a favorite. Griz Balancing it out with the toughest front seven in conference along with a resurgent offense peaking at playoff time will keep it close.

I've seen the charts/graphs and heard all the strength/weaknesses of both squads...Seems to be quite even.
Intangibles-Beating a team twice after playing a game a short time ago would favor UM.

I have to say I'm worried ... this is a legacy game for us. If they lose, not a huge deal since they still have the top two FCS players back next year. They'll be fine (although they will probably need to find a new coach). If we lose, that would make five of six losses to them and four in a row. At that point, how can we even consider ourselves on the same level... That, and we lose our quarterback...
