UM vs. EWU Score Prediction - Playoff Version

When was the last time the Griz beat a very good team on the road (and don't say MSU last season)? This is why I can't pick them to win, but I hope they prove me wrong.

James Madison in 2008? :?

And the last time the Griz have had to travel on the road in the playoffs since 2008 was in 2011 against Sam Houston State, and we nearly won that game if it weren't for a poor 1st quarter.

I like the Griz in their position. I think we are going to be amped to play but I like the experience this team obtained in the last couple weeks. Against the Cats, with all the build up, at home, raised emotion with coaches last game, etc. we still came out and executed well. Then last week, with the threat of looking ahead to EWU, we came out and executed at our level against a far inferior team. EWU won't have seen another opponent in 2 weeks and only have played 2 games in 4 weeks. The possibility is there that they come out SUPER DUPER amped to play and it hurts them in their execution in the first half. I hope the Griz can open the game as the more even keeled, focused team and not give EWU the head start like the last couple games. It's hard to see EWU losing this game with the playmakers that they have but as a homer, I am going Griz - 38 Eags 33. Griz hold the Eags out of the End Zone at the end similar to App St. 2009.

I think EWU will be too healthy. MSU losing like they did and our beating of a team that doesn't have athletic scholarships doesn't give me great confidence. At end of day EWU has better QB and receivers and a better coach, at home. We will competete but will lose again, unfortunately.

this makes sense from betting mans point of view,,,,as a fan, well griz 38-35.....

Griz are playing the best they have all season, at least for the last ten quarters of play. The "D" is on fire and hitting on all cylinders as is the offense since JJ has been given the reins. Griz have momentum like a freight train on rocket fuel and will come into this game with that extra bit of confidence that was missing a few weeks ago.
ewu has played one game in a month since we last met, where as the Griz have been in playoff mode. Yes, ewu will be healthy but the Griz are not to bad right now either so health should not be a big factor either way. ewu will get their points but so will the Griz. Our D is better and as of right now our offenses are about even. Defense wins this one. I hear that the coaches are not going to feed Wags this week so he is extra hungry to feed on some QB
Griz 42
ewu 30

Let's see what happens against a better team in EWU on the road. Not saying it can't happen, just not likely. One point, the offenses aren't close to being even. QB, OL, Coaching, WR's all EWU. RB's are a push IMO, although EWU is deeper, if not more talented. I like our chances.

EWU wins 48 - 31

I won't argue about EWU getting the nod on offense. Though you forgot the other side of the ball. The defenses aren't close to being even either. The Defensive line, LB, secondary all favor the Grizzlies. If the Montana offense plays well (no turnovers) I'm confident the Grizzly defense holds the eagles to fewer points this time. I like our chances.

Montana wins 31 - 28.

Eastern wins 45-21

A healthy VA and Forte this time and the Eags play a full four quarters. It won't be close.

FIFY

Montana wins 45-21

A healthy JJ and Canada, instant replay, 0 interceptions and the Griz roll to the Quarterfinals. It won't be close.

Its funny how the Griz fans seem to remember the dropped td pass and bad call for the Griz, but don't seem to remember Eastern also dropped a TD pass as well as several additional balls that should have been picked from JJ. Instant replay could have worked for both teams in the last game...

This game won't be close, and it won't end well for the Griz. EWU couldn't be more focused, prepared, and ready to go for this game.

I'm sorry, but you and anyone else are fools if you think this game won't be close no matter who wins. The Griz are amped. The Eags are amped. The Eags most likely won't score 40 on the Griz. It's going to be a battle and it's going to go down to the last few minutes.

It's funny how Eag fans talk about a "dropped" TD pass, when my post didn't. Irrelevant and meaningless. You are right about more interceptions though. VA's jump balls will not work this time. He will be forced to "throw" the ball, running for his life.

We will find out soon enough...

VA will be running more this time, that is for sure...

Be careful what you ask for, as the last EWU/Griz game a month ago, VA couldn't really run for his life, he was around 80-85%. Now at 100%, he will be the VA as we all know him and will really hurt the Griz defense given the opportunity. Should be a really great and close game, but the Eagles have just too much more on offense and just enough on defense to pull this one out!!

Well here's some more bullshit factoid for ya, the last 5 games for EWU vs Griz:
2010: 36 - 29 EWU @ EWU
2011: 14- 17 UM @Griz
2012: 36 - 32 EWU @EWU
2013: 42 - 37 EWU @Griz
2014: 36 - 26 EWU @EWU
So if the last 5 years stats hold true, it's EWU 38 -28 Griz!
Just fun facts, but no bearing on the game Saturday, or is it??

The Game of all games, since I have been a big part of the Griz Nation. Story book ending? We shall see Saturday evening. Go Griz!!!
