UM Run Defense

267, very impressive!

However if you take away that 80 yard run and another 120 yards of rushing we held them to 67 yards in the game.

Now that's run defense

A different view. A decent day of run defense, except for 1 play of 80 yards. 267 yards in 50 carries, for a 5.3 average. 187 yards in 49 carries (3.8). 6 plays over 10 yards. Another 9 plays over 10 yards. 21 plays of 3 and under.

Lots of ways to look at the D today - both good and not so good. After the first paly on defense, Griz gave up 9 points the rest of the game.

You take away the big play, we did fine. I think we will finish strong.
If you take all 50 rushes away we gave up 0 yards and that is REALLY finishing strong AND a big deal

If Tennessee didn't fumble they might have beat Alabama!

This is fun
If pigs had wings, they could fly. (Heard that, once upon a time.)
But somebody would have to teach them how.

If we would just not give up any plays for 10 yards or more and recover every fumbled ball...yeah we would be pretty tough and no dropped passes...ever!

One single play skews the results SO badly. UND was never in this game. GREAT adjustments by Gregorak and the defense.

Not sure if he doesn't practice well, but would like to more of Kyle Davis. More than held his own in the goal line stand early. But didnt see him much after that. Nate Bradley drew a holding call, not easy for a tree to block that bowling ball.

Agreed. Can't ignore the big play of course but when you look at the rest of the day and the adjustments made, outside of a few crazy runs, the rush D got better and better for a majority stretch of the game.

Tackling...they should do tackle drills for every minute of their alloted practice time this week.

Santiago---that guy is gonna haunt this league for a long time. He reminds me of the guy from NAU who seemed like he played 7 years...and that the Griz couldn't stop....

Run defense was hot-n-cold but benefited from a UND team that was barely a passing threat. PSU will be a much bigger challenge, a much more balanced offense.

notice how "little g" evaporates after taking one shot?

where is he after 60 minutes and 42-10?

the league's leadiimg rusher got 98 yards the rest of the game....

After rewatching the game and some of the shots he took, I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He got those 98 yards on just 21 carries, so he did alright.

Several shirt tackles (though one of them may have been the most entertaining play of the game.)

That WAS entertaining, as was Strahm's tackle of the punter and Jones juke and score between the defenders....
