UM / ISU

While it would have been great to win the league and host the tourney, the last two years have proven that it really means nothing as far as getting to the dance. The Griz have a little momentum, some guys are stepping up a little. They need to get on a little run and they have as good a shot as anyone.

Nicely done, Griz!

C'mon Northern Colorado!! (and I can GUARANTEE that's the first time I've ever uttered that statement....)

Ooops. Sorry. Was going to say that I had another posting on the same subject matter under this thread. Glad you caught it. Don't want to offend. I was just kind of curious and was wondering about feedback that would enlighten me as such.

Do ya really think Weber woulda played the same way if the game meant anything in the standings?

Dang, Griz came so close to hosting the tournament. If they just beat NAU last thursday, and so in other games also.

I did not do the math but I got this directly from someone at MSU

Nope. The tiebreaker that Big Sky posted lists UNC over NAU as a must for the Cats to host.

It looks like BigSkyConf.com pulled their scenario PDF. Perhaps they had it wrong.

MSU holds a tie-breaker over PSU since they beat WSU and PSU didn't (from what I can gather).

So all MSU has to do is beat ISU. (Although this contradicts what BSC posted earlier)

First, MSU and PSU split the head to head series. If WSU loses, then they would have the same conference record as NAU. In a tiebreaker scenario WSU and NAU are considered to be in a tie for first place. Both PSU and MSU have 1 combined win against the TWO first place teams. Because of that it goes down to the 3rd place team (UM). PSU spit with them, and MSU got swept, hence MSU needing Weber to lose tonight.

Is that too complicated for you?

I thought that they sorted from top down. So the WSU/NAU tie should be determined before they get to the MSU/PSU tie.

I don't know. I guess we'll find out if MSU can take care of business.

I guess they could make it a little more complicated.

But if UNC beats NAU, then WSU is all alone and MSU is hosting again, right?

The game meant outright championship or co-championship. NAU win tonight and NAU and WSU are co-championships.

Also, it meant getting momentum going into the tournament. You play to win.

The record in past 8 years for host team winning the championship is 4 - 4. 50% chance to win if your the host team.

Ya it would be nice to say outright champ BUT knowing you host no matter what takes a lot away. SO if hosting was on the line I think the game woulda been much much different.
