UM has top players transferring in, Cats have top players transferring out

Yes, the difference between the cats last year was how they played in big games. Cats struggled in big games and dominated in easy ones. Gris played great in big games but struggled in easy ones. The four teams the cats lots to ended up being the in top 6 teams in the country. As I explained anyone who left to the portal was filled in by transfers and players who were injured last year.

Chambers in my opinion often hurt the cats and stalled out drives as he was the redzone qb and often ran one play, qb draw. I think without Chambers it will allow Tommy to play the whole game and keep momentum going on drives. If you check numbers, the games where one qb played almost all game, the cats did well on not stalling out. (SDSU sorta, Weber, and NDSU)

Cats got Ezekiel (UNT- ol), Eckert (Wa St- dl), Rollins (BYU- ol), and Jones (Maine- te/fb). I don’t think there will be any drop off besides Valdez (dl) but Schmidt, Eckert, Brott, and Black will 100% hold their own and the de’s will be phenomenal will Grebe, Eiden, Parsons, and Crews.
We didn't struggle in a single "easy" game after switching to McDowell.

I also have no idea why you shit on Chambers as much as you do. He had a higher passer rating than Tommy and scored 9 more TDs on the ground (and 6 more TDs in 2022). You could argue he was your best offensive player over the last 2 years. Without him, you guys may have lost several more games.

This is exactly the kind of thing CDA was talking about with his cat fan Tommy Mellot delusion.

Chambers should have been the QB (in reality, he was the only QB on the team), and the wine guy should have been an RB/WR/Flex. It's what he was anyway.

Yes but he was nearly the only change as everyone else was playing in those games

Do you ever watch games? Chambers is the redzone qb, I wonder why he has more tds. Watch the SDSU game and tell me that INT wasn’t awful. Chambers was only good because of size and a good o-line.

Weird how Tommy was 2nd team big sky. He threw for 2 td and ran for 2 against NDSU, who had one of the best secondaries and overall one of the better defenses.

Man that's a take. Chambers was VERY important to us last year and we're going to miss him this season for sure. At the very least he was a known commodity whereas this year if/when Tommy goes down we'll get an unknown. I don't think some realize just how important Sean was for us.

As a GRIZ fan, I was far more concerned when Chambers was in the game. I doubt I'm alone.

He only really did well against bad teams. Reed is a great passer and will only get better. My problem with Chambers was he ran SO many qb draws which became very predictable.

Jesus. griz eek out a couple squeakers, the Cats lose a couple squeakers, and the griz beat the Cats and all of a sudden the griz are dominant again. November can't get here soon enough - time to restore the rightful order and show once again who owns this state! For any griz fans thinking the Cats are going to get thumped at home..... not going to happen.
What is your wager...

Griz are now returned to dominating the BSC...seriously - what's the wager?

Chambers was also 1st team all-conference. Without Chambers playing when Mellott was out, the Cats lose more games. I agree that Mellott was better at qb.

A Griz win in Bozeman would be fine with me. We don't have the "thump" the Cats. The Griz now have the defensive scheme to stop the Cats. Thanks to Tim Hauck.

I agree but for a different reason. Bubs will miss him big time and not simply when Mellot gets hurt, but more so for the change of pace each game.
Moany complaining about Chambers being a one trick pony shows how little he understands the game because the opposite is true—constantly running QB draw wasn’t a weakness, it was one of the team’s greatest strengths. QB draw with Chambers was more like a bread and butter play that was almost impossible to stop. Teams had to prepare for both Mellot scampering outside and Chambers hammering inside. Mellot’s game is not the same without it, and bringing in some passing QB will not play into the bub’s strength (a power running game).

Good post. I agree completely.

Remember that you're talking to the kid who said in another thread that Chambers was the reason you guys lost the Brawl, despite playing 2 whole snaps in the entire game before the score was 37-7.

I think that game would've been a lot closer if Chambers had rotated in with Tommy more frequently before it was out of hand.

I agree completely. Chambers was very very important. I liked Mellott better and he was fast, explosive, and a winner, but Chambers was very good, was a tougher runner, and could replace Mellott without the Cats losing anything or much. He's the Cats biggest loss. Even a good passing/running qb, if there is one, is not going to be able to run the running offense as well as Chambers and Mellott did if Mellott gets hurt.
