UM has top players transferring in, Cats have top players transferring out

Question for gris fans, I do not mean to anger people but am coming from curiosity.

We know the cats have lost many players to solid FBS teams recently (Ifanse, Glessner, Valdez, Aigbedion, etc.) and get criticized for it. Gris seem to bring lots of FBS drop-downs in and get praised while at the same time don’t seem to have many players transfer to FBS programs.

I am curious what gris players could’ve realistically transferred up to power 5 schools recently. No doubt Bergen and probably Gubner could’ve but it seems like the gris studs are always seniors. I just am questioning if its culture or if it’s the guys are too old.
I'm questioning if you're really this fucking stupid.

Well give me a list… Toure and the one or two kickers (I forget) are the only players that transferred to power 5 schools that I remember, but I’d appreciate it to get a list of players that could transfer or did.
Well, there was Peter Pan, Count Chocula, Big Bird, Stan Marsh, and Tommy Pickles. They all stuck around because they didn’t hate the coaching staff and administration.

Perhaps some o-linemen, some linebackers, some secondary, maybe a running back or two. A receiver did. Another receiver did but didn’t play much. A punter did. Another punter could have. Hauck said last year that 8 o-lineman could go portal and get snapped up. But not P5. The Cat problem is mainly last couple years.

The fact that the assclown says Gub "probably" could have transferred to an FBS program tells you all you need to know. Dude's on the roster of the two-time Super Bowl champion.

But yeah, I guess the bubs have had a fair number of desertions. Rats off sinking ships, I can only assume. Great to have a program like Montana where the players are fully committed. And the assistant coaches are not, well, committed as wards of the state.

I think cat players leave for a couple of reasons.

1. They don't play the game they thought they were recruited to play. Running backs and LBs play QB in the cat system. Instead of route trees - they have a route stem. The cat defense is consistently in shambles and the team is typically plagued with injuries. Special teams always underperform. The off season program and nutrition system are insufficient for D1 football.

2. cat coaches lack character. It's tough to be held to a standard the coaches won't meet. The lack of accountability spreads discontent. Their parents don't believe they will emerge from the program as better men with life skills to propel them beyond the game.

vim is dead and they know it. So, they seek the simple things life in state cannot offer.

I only say probably because of his position and stats, from what I know he was a nt and seems most defenses don’t use a nt, but I think he would’ve done just fine at dt. I don’t think its a sinking ship problem but rather “oh crap I can play at Washington and get paid a couple 100k, sweet”. I mean Eck is saying his plan is to develop and send them to FBS so maybe thats the play?

Who has been repositioned recently? Troy played hs qb and same with tommy. And offseason program is not lacking nor is the nutrition. Lots of players absolutely love our coaches, Vigen is no Choate but the assistants have loads of energy.

Any specific players, no doubt gris lb have had skill but it seems like they are always seniors, I can see some secondary but I don’t imagine any gris secondary would get significant time playing on a p5 school as the guys who play secondary at big schools are athletic freaks.

Gris-FBS players

2024

Vincent Genatone- LB to Nebraska: Freshman who got almost no time but has an impressive build for a freshman

Kale Edwards- DE to New Mexico St: Was a starting DE and would’ve been one of the better guys on defense

Iverson Young- RB to Mississippi St: Good freshman that never got any time
2023
None according to On3
2022
None according to On3
2021
Samori Toure- WE to Nebraska: Very talented wr who ended up playing and made it to NFL.

I know I’m missing some but maybe you guys could fill it in.

Question: is there a visual representation of how dumb I sound?

Point being, ours COULD have, yours DID.

THAT is the difference between the two programs.
Who could have? That is exactly what I’m asking here but no one seems to have any players… McDowell was one of the best offensive players and he literally transferred down. I don’t think any offensive players could’ve transferred and actually played at a power 5 besides Grossman, Bergen, and Casey. Defensively I think Meyer could’ve but I’m not sure how much success he would have as a safety in power 5. Most good returning players transferred down from FBS and I would be shocked if they went back.

Weak P5 schools. Cincinnati, BYU, Duke, Houston. “You could simply list the all-time worst winning percentages among the Power 5 programs and that would include all of Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Indiana, Rutgers, Northwestern, Iowa State, Oregon State, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt. Each of those football programs are still under .500 in their history.” There are more.

A punter did. Went to Nebraska. Next punter could have. The small Billings receiver went to Texas. The Butte O-lineman playing for Steelers. Mayginnes. Forbes. Akem. Some running backs. Again, some linebackers. Maybe Sneed.

The question asked was who could have played P5. Not whether they would have gone back.
